There are rumors of a possible trade

Let's officially launch the "Bring Chris Kaman to the Pistons" campaign.
Kaman, the 6-foot-10 low post center from Central Michigan, is exactly what the Pistons need. He has no chance of winning a title -- OK, winning at all -- with the L.A. Clippers.
And how's this for trade bait? Tayshaun Prince, when he gets healthy.
Prince is from Compton, Calif., so he'll be going home. And Kaman is from Grand Rapids.
"I am not against it," Kaman said. "I am not pushing for it. If it happens, it happens. I would not be upset. I like to win."

Here we go. Hate Prince though. Don't see how this trade would help us UNLESS we recieve the great Kwame Brown in return. No seriously, I don't see it.

I used to be all for this trade but now im not sure. I don't think Tayshaun is really that good and it mean we will have no C next year apart from DJ. I see this move as lateral, we probably wont get much better or worse.

I would like to get rid of Kaman because he annoys the hell out of me but I would only do it if we get an offenive weapon in return and are really going switch to an uptempo system with a new coach. Maybe we could package him with someone for Tmac? Then try for a FA next year.

Baron/Gordon/Tmac/Griffin/Camby playing an uptempo system. I would pay good money to see that (if tmac was healthy).

I'm all for Kaman-Prince trade. But both Prince and Griffin have to to be healthy and playing in order to this go through. Prince is a good defender, especially the perimeter, and good passer. Things we lack at SF position.
And his contract expires at 2010-2011 season.
I wonder if we could include Ricky Davis to Kaman package for a 2nd rounder or say Will Bynum?

I don't really understand the "Jordan will be the only center on the roster next year" thought process.

Will there not be free agents that can be signed? Or players traded for a center?
If they need to this year they could sign one of these guys to play behind Camby and Jordan:

Sean Sonderleiter, Earl Barron, Kurt Looby, Rod Benson, Luke Nevill, Cezary Trybanski...

I could see Mardy Collins going with Kaman. The Pistons could use a bigger guard to handle the ball and play along side Gordon, Stuckey, and Bynum. They are all scorers.

If we lose Camby, Kaman we can always sign Shaq next year

Yeah I don't think a trade could work out between these two teams, but I do like Tayshaun as a SF for our team. He's unselfish and can lock down on D. Even with as frustrating as Kaman can be, he's as close to being the best center we've had in a while.

I wouldn't trade Kaman for Prince right now.

Prince is rail thin and has got back problems. Maybe all those NBA years and playoff battles finally catched up to his thin body and he could easily break down.
I also don't think he's that great of a defender without Sheed and Wallace protecting him down low.

I think Camby, as well as he's been playing this season, is the guy we should use as a trade chip and i'd even add a first round pick, if it would net us someone like Caron Butler.

Prince is what this team needs NOW. Imagine a lineup of Baron, Gordon, Prince, Griffin, and Camby. Just imagine.

I'd imagine it would still be quite bad with Dunleavy around.

Yeah, awesome.

A guy on his way out at center, a rookie still being sidelined, a veteran small forward being sidelined(while no one knows when he'll be back) as well, a sophomore sg who's day-to-day and an overpaid pg who's playing solid right now.

That, to me, looks like a brilliant 25 win team that's very thin up front and has to rely heavily on DeAndre Jordan at center next year.

I'm sorry, but that's not what i'd be shooting for, as i don't think that Prince and his bad back are what we should trade Kaman for...

Is Kaman really 6'10? why does every nba site say 7 foot?

I would trade Kaman for an expiring and a couple draft picks. I would be happy with Austin Daye, Jason Maxiell, Kwame Brown & a Future 1st Round Pick from Detroit for Chris Kaman. It would be serviceable.
