Larry Brown interested in coaching the Clippers again?

Speaking of Charlotte, multiple NBA sources said coach Larry Brown has made preliminary calls to the Clippers to try to line up a position with that organization in case things with Jordan go sideways.

Brown, according to sources, was concerned that George Postolos, Charlotte's would-be owner if Jordan's group hadn't raised the necessary capital, was prepared to clean house, which meant that Brown would have been out. To preserve his position as an NBA coach, Brown reached out to Clippers owner Donald Sterling to let him know that he is open to returning to L.A.

Brown did not return several calls seeking comment.

One source indicated Brown was seeking complete control, including the ability to make personnel decisions. Sterling is said to still be enamored with the idea of getting Brown, who coached the Clippers to the playoffs in 1992 and '93. Brown also has a home in Malibu and his wife is said to want to move back there. GM Mike Dunleavy stepped down as coach in early February, and it's possible that Sterling will revamp the front office in the offseason.

If that is the case, expect Sterling to have at least one substantive conversation with Brown.

My Fantasies are usually found in Penthouse Forum however, I can dream (w/ a smile on my face) of Larry coaching the Clips once again.

Wow! That would be pretty sweet, but I'm uncertain as to how well he can revamp the team. I still like Dunleavy as GM. Brown is definitely someone to look at though.

Brown's a terrible GM and a great coach. Dunleavy's a great GM and a terrible coach. Looks good on paper, but then again so do the Clippers.

My concern would that I just don't trust him. If Dunleavy were GM and he were coach, then I'd be fine with that. I think Brown would want full control and want to bring in his type of players. He could easily want to move guys (typically the younger players) and then bounce not long after. He's a great coach, but he's fickle. For that reason, I'd be leery of hiring him.

He is certainly and upgrade over what we have had. I am not sold on our roster situation as is. But I think with one or two moves we could get there quickly and be successful. I would like to see Camby come back or Jordan take a huge step forward defensively. And we desperately need a defender at SF. But this team in a way reminds of his Pistons team. Crafty veteran PG who can hit the big shots. SG who is an efficient scorer and good man defender. Talented front court who should be tough to beat on the boards.

Btw appereantly Jerry West is not interested in Clippers GM job.

a GM doesn't have to be bossy, but has to be peoples person. Brown is definitely not.

Larry Brown would clean house if he went to the Clippers. Might not be a horrible idea, but there are pieces in LA that could work under the right coach. You might want to look elsewhere.

I agree, I'd rather keep what we have and not bring in Larry Brown. He might get us to the playoffs for a year but we wouldn't have much of a future.
