Yeah he actually didn't pitch bad despite the stats. Not hard to tell that he's got great stuff.

Thats a pretty strong starting 5 if Clemens decides to come back next month. Hell even from June on, this rotation will make up for the hell that has been our April

What if Pavano comes back? What about Igawa?

Who cares about Pavano? He should never stand in the place of Hughes pitching.

I want Pavano to have about 5 or so good starts, and then for his ass to be shipped as far away from New York as possible.

That's what all Yankees fans want. However, I think Torre will send Hughes back to the triple A after Pavano and Mussina return.

You mean if Pavano and Moose return. Moose is probably going to be back and will give us around 20 starts. Pavano has not shown the ability to come back from injury while he has been with the Yankees. So I have no faith that Pavano can come back. Plus, if Hughes pitches like he should, there would be no way to justify sticking anyone short of Johan or another perenial cy young candidate in his spot. -Jitpal

Jitpal your still way too clouded. Hughes is not going to be an all star this year. He has all the stuff and potential in the world. He never threw above 90 pitches in a minor league start and they are going to be real careful with him. I highly doubt with Pettitte, Moose, Wang, Igawa, and Rasner that he stays up here. You can not rely on a guy that has been babied his entire minor league career. He also could use some time in AAA to work on his command, it was a little off the other night.

All that said, I'm pumped for Tuesday night....hopefully he can help turn this thing around.

Man, what the hell are you talking about. He doesn't need to go to AAA to work on his command. That's the stupidest thing I've heard all day. He had the jitters, big deal, he's still got the best command on our staff and he's a 20 year old.

He does not need to go back to AAA. He has nothing to learn there, if he shows the same consistency on his change that he did versus Toronto, there is absolutely no reason for him to be in AAA. None. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Ok well don't bitch about Torre taking out pitchers after the 5th inning and over using relievers. Hughes is on a pitch count and will remain that way. This kid is something special and the organization isn't going to jeapordize his future for our 2007 season

When did I ever bitch about Hughes being on a pitch count buddy? Stop putting words in my mouth, I never said that. I completely understand why he is on a pitch count.

I'll bitch about Torre taking out other pitchers before 100 pitches... not Hughes.
