NFL labor riffe

Post#1 » by craig01 » Sat Mar 12, 2011 10:54 pm

While I tend to be anti-union, this time I am on the side of the players.

Basketball and baseball players get far too much in comparison to what the majority of NFL players do.

The 18 game schedule is absurd as the season is probably too long anyway.

NFL owners have stiffed players for decades as far as pensions and medical care.

I know a handful of former NFL players, and by their middle age.....daily life is extremely uncomfortable and in some cases very physically limiting and painful.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

Same here. Don't think there should be 18 games, leave it a 16, but cut preseason games to 2 or 3. 4 is too much. Sucks when you lose a star player or starter during a preseason game.

One thing in the players favor is the NFL's fear of their anti-trust exemption being challenged.

Personally, I think they are all foolish...

Negotiations took an ominous turn late in the week.

At this point I think it will take nothing short of a miracle to begin the season on time.

If there is a work stoppage, the NFL and Players Assoc will find out by October that people will have already forgotten about them.
