The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and defensive end Gaines Adams, the fourth overall pick in this year's draft, have agreed to terms on a six-year contract, ESPN's John Clayton reported Thursday.
The deal maxes out at $46 million, with $18.56 million guaranteed.
Adams, at 6-foot-5 and 258 pounds, led the ACC with 12.5 sacks in 2006 and left Clemson tied with Michael Dean Perry for the top spot on the Tigers' career sack list with 28.
The Bucs, who went 4-12 last season and were 17th in total defense after ranking in the Top 10 for a decade, had not selected a defensive player in the first round since taking tackle Anthony McFarland at No. 15 overall in 1999.
Well, this is good news as Adams will be ready to roll for training camp. Looks like he netted quite the payday, hopefully he's as good as advertised as a pass rusher.
