If we have a solid draft, we'll be a playoff contender. If we have an average draft, we'll flirt with a 5-11/6-10 record. If we have a bad draft, we'll suck again this year and for the next couple seasons. This draft is a make or break event for this franchise.

Hopefully we get Suh or McCoy in the 1st, and get some offensive playmakers to help Freeman (a WR in the 2nd round/RB sometime from 3-6) and then all the other picks need to be defensive.

Man, playoff contender?

Not too sure about that.

No way. We were 3-6 with Freeman starting last year. That's not bad. 3-5 years away from a playoff contender is crazy. You must post frequently on the TBBBB

I didnt say we WOULD make the playoffs. I said IF we have a great draft, we'll be a playoff CONTENDER. If they do good in the draft, then I could see us at .500 and maybe a little better, especially considering the SOFT schedule we have this season.

As long as we get Suh or McCoy, our defense will be leaps and bounds better, then add in the other couple defensive rookies that will help out, our defense won't be as bad as last year....and our offense will be better too. People forget that last year, we were installing an entire new offensive playbook ON THE RUN week in and week out after we fired Jagodzinski.

I'm not guaranteeing playoffs, I'm just saying we'll be a solid team, right around .500

As long as Glazer's own this team and continue to be cheap, as long as Dominak is GM, as long as Morris is HC, this team is 3-5 yrs from playoffs.

The Bucs actual payroll was less than the Rays.

I think they'll need a miracle really, but you never know.

Way to spot a Buc "fan": automatically blaming the Glazers. lol.

While I agree they aren't winning any "owners of the year" awards soon, i think a bit of the hatred for them is overvalued. I wish they'd sell the team as well, but whats the point in OVERspending in free agency this year, if 1) there aren't any extremely sought-after FAs that could help (except Peppers who's already signed and Kampman who's already signed) and 2) there's no guarantee there will be a season after this coming year.

You see the Redskins spending billions of dollars in FA, and they have the draft pick right after us. Spending a boatload of money doesn't automatically equal success.

Look at teams like the Steelers and Colts. They build through the draft, and they've won Super Bowls and been a consistent contender over the past decade plus. That's what we're doing now. And even when we won the Super Bowl, the majority of our roster was our draft picks (with the exception of Rice, Keyshawn, McCardell and Pittman). And people ALWAYS forget to mention how big of a contract they gave to Winslow, they made him the highest paid TE in HISTORY.

We have 11 draft picks this season, and the majority of them are at the beginning of each round. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those "BUCANERS WILL WIN SUPER BOWLZ THIZ YEARZ" type of fan. I'm a realistic fan. We had the SECOND hardest schedule in the NFL last season. This coming season, we'll have home games vs the Browns, Lions and Rams. Thats basically 3 locks. And count in the fact that Freeman will be the man all offseason and we'll have the SAME offense ALL season this year, the offense should be improved.

To say that we'll constantly be 3-5 years away from the playoffs is absurd. Although we're a relatively "cheap" franchise, we're not the Browns, Raiders, Bills or Lions. We have had success.

We started rebuilding RIGHT after a 9 win season. You can't expect to be a playoff team after cutting those many players and starting all over from scratch like that. We are a few pieces away from being a .500 team. I have faith. I'll give Dominik (not dominak) and Raheem one more year to see how it plays out. I think you'll be surprised.
