Hate to disagree but that's what football coaches do...they exploit match-ups they like and they've looked for that match up all year. Besides, Beasley, Witten nor Dunbar had established separation...could a perfect pass in the perfect spot made a 1st down? Perhaps, but a pretty darn perfect pass was made to Dez. It's football and like all other sports....woulda, coulda, shoulda works well after the fact.

"This weekend while I'm home watching other games I will be comforted by the fact that we "weren't afraid to lose"

To each his own but make no mistake, your opinion carries no more wait than any other fans.
LOL at me cause I think not being afraid to lose is a large part of what I liked about this Dallas Cowboy team this season.

1st, 2nd or 3rd down I agree. On 4th down you throw a high % pass. Beasley looked wide open to me and Willliams may have been too, but I couldn't see him on the review I was looking at. But, Romo never looked so all of them could have been wide open and it wouldn't have mattered. Live to see another down in that spot...and I don't change my opinions AFTER THE FACT.

Let's try to be fair here. The Packers were bringing the heat and Romo was going to need to get rid of that ball. He didn't have all day, and they had already had some success getting to him, even if some of that was his own fault. There was single coverage on Dez, and Dallas tends to take that. The best you can see from the replay is that Beasely was open, perhaps only briefly. They weren't going to let Witten catch that ball, and I think Dunbar forgot where the 1st down marker was or something, because I thought he was in a real bad position if the ball came his way. Williams seemed to be taking to long to get open considering that ball was going to come out fairly quick.

Hey, I would have loved a slow, methodical drive for a TD, leaving no time on the clock, but things don't always work out like that. They had a pair, and they let them swing in a favorable match-up. I would have liked things to work out differently, but I sure ain't mad at 'em. If anything said they were playing to win or falling short trying, it was that play. KI get where you're coming from, but kudos to them for growing a pair.

" but kudos to them for growing a pair"

That remains the point I'm trying to make.
Second guessing is a fans right of passage....I get that. I just can't go there with this team, not after watching the Cowboy product the last 8 years. Maybe I'm giving to much credit to Garrett. I just think it's been a remarkable transformation in one season. He was allowed to hire his coordinators and the team culture is 180 from what it's been. I have no problem with the play. Dallas looks for that coverage and will go that way whenever shown. Yep....Dallas ain't soft no more.

In all of this the most ridiculous and maybe equally crucial play of the game gets overlooked.

Rodgers last pass play of the game on 3rd down. The ball gets tipped and it's tumbling like a damn field goal. And it still lands in Cobbs hands. If we hold them and assuming they make the field goal we are down by 8. (then again maybe GB goes for it on 4th)

Romo would have just under 2 minutes, no timeouts. Would have loved to see that drive.

In the end these Cowboys showed fight and heart all season long. Real proud of that.

Go Cowboys!

And what I read after (if true) was that he wasn't even throwing to Cobb.
Here's another one. All the talk about the Dez "Catch". What about the catch by Cobb earlier in the game that clearly hit the ground. Didn't that lead to a FG? That could have changed things too

If nothing else the questionable call in this game dud not favor Dallas. All those Jerry paid the refs screams should forever be silenced.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that was the first down play after the Bailey miss. Next play was the sack, then the big completion to Cobb. Way too much BS in that game that I will think about for months.

It's almost fitting. It's pretty much Dallas's history. Strange stuff has always been their history.
so close....yet no cigar.

Return to Dallas Cowboys
