Bryan Broaddus of the Cowboys' official website thinks Mark Ingram could be an option to replace fellow impending free agent DeMarco Murray.
The chances of Murray re-signing with Dallas seem extremely long, as he should be following the cash. The Cowboys don't have the cash to line Murray's pockets. Ingram also won't be coming cheap, but he won't be as expensive as Murray. If Ingram lands in Dallas behind that offensive line and in OC Scott Linehan's scheme, he'd be flirting with RB1 numbers on a weekly basis. Ingram is likely to command $3-5 million per year on the open market after his breakout 2014.
It wouldn't hurt my feelings to land Ingram

Re: Mark Ingram to the cowboys?
I saw this on Rotoworld and then went and Read the tweet. He wasn't really saying we will be looking at him. More that he was asked the question and said he thought it would be a possibility. Truth is that Broaddus really isn't very accurate on any of free agent stuff anyway. I do think we all expect guys like Ingram to be in the mix if we let Murray go.
Personally I need to see how much more Murray gets before I decide if I think a guy like Ingram is a good choice. I do like Ingram, but he really isn't anything special. He would be a nice guy to share the load. i don't know if he improved, but i don't remember him being a good pass blocker and that is very important for this team. If it comes down to a couple of million dollars per year I stay with Murray.
My gut tells me that when Jerry looks back on this season and thinks about how close he thinks we were to making a SB and looks at Romo and Witten's ages that he ends up not being able to let Murray go. So, at this point I think both Dez and Murray are back. If it comes down to something as simple as Murray and Parnell versus Ingram and Free, I go with the Murray package, but id prefer Parnell to Free anyway assuming both will require a multiyear deal. If that is not comparable, I still go the Murray package if it means letting a few other guys go too. This team proved they could get a lot out of low priced defensive free agents last year and I imagine with Marinelli back they could do the same again. The other thing I look at is making Carr a post 6/1 cut and that should make it easier to sign Murray too. Carr's contract is set up so that keeping him one more year would be better and that's what I prefer (especially with a salary cut), but it's certainly in the mix that he is a cut too.

Here is another way to look at it. What do you think Murray gets per year? Now if Ingram gets the upper end of that range above ($5M per year) how much harder is it to go with Murray instead?

Re: Mark Ingram to the cowboys?
not much has changed for me.
The guaranteed money is the topic and that's still 10M to me
Tops would be 4 years at 20M with 10M guaranteed.
