The right way to build a team

Post#1 » by Jarntt » Wed Jan 28, 2015 2:28 pm

Glad to read this from Stephen Jones:

“Your draft, I believe it more now than ever is your lifeblood,” said Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones last week at the Senior Bowl. “What we’re doing out here is the most important thing we can do to build a football team. We obviously have done a good job of it in our offensive line.”

If you draft well and use your FA $'s to resign your own and supplement with FAs where needed you have a good team and don't have a cap problem. Think of how good of a position we would be in if we hit on the Claiborne draft day move, or just did nothing and hit on the two picks we would have had instead. I am feeling more and more strongly about resigning Murray as long as it's reasonable. Unless it's a real good pass rusher (and that's still questionable), I can't think of a guy in his price range that will help our team more and I'm not assuming if we let him go that we draft a starting RB year one.

Could just be public relations speak. It's better to wait until free agency and the draft are over and done with. That is when we will know if the team is really committed to building the team the right way.
