This should actually be an extremely high scoring game, as these are two of the worst defenses in the NFL, and it should end with Cincy outscoring Dallas. Like 48 to 36 or something like that. If Cooper can connect with Lamb, this is the game for him to do it.

So if the Cowboys win 2 more games before the final game against Washington and Washington goes winless until that last game against Dallas, that final game could be for the final Wild Card spot. Does that sound about right?

Looks like the NFC North is going to hog up two Wild Card spots, leaving one remaining. And we'd be 8-9 under your scenario if we beat Wash. So I'm sure it's possible but we'd also need other teams to do not win out, like Tampa, Arizona, LA Rams.

I'm thinking the odds of this are pretty low, and we need it to not happen because it could lead to Jerry having to consider McCarthy.

Realistically I think Tampa grabs that last Wild Card spot. If that happens then we can start talking about potential HC replacements.

But… would McCarthy consider Jerry?

I believe MM would stay if he’s offered a new contract. If he is fired I see him getting another job. Personally I think the Cardinals should hire him. I actually think he’d be good for Kyler Murray.

I was never big on McCarthy and even when he was in Green Bay you could see poor decision making. The only reason I give Jerry a pass on it is because there were really no good candidates at all available. I wanted Payton, he wasn't there. Belichick wasn't either. Outside of hiring an unknown experiment coach, McCarthy was the only one with an actual resume and ring to show.

The next HC will very likely be the exact same type of coach MM is. We’ve thrown Belichick and Vrable’s name around but really the two coaches that fit the MM mold and will likely be available are Doug Pederson and Zac Taylor. Don’t be surprised if either of those guys are the new HC.

Oh and 1 other name that will likely be at the top of Jones’ wishlist is … Kellen Moore

Zack Martin done for the year.

Remember when we had him, Tyron Smith & Travis Frederick on the same line together?

Good times.

Wish I had confidence the Cowboys could match up offensively. But if tonight goes “to form” then we’ll probably trade FG’s for TD’s. Should be entertaining to watch, though. I really do dig Joe Burrow. Just a fun dude to watch play QB.

The stupidity and incompetence is just unbearable.

Cowboys block the punt and they end up giving the ball back to Cincy for a 1st down.

How many more years do we have to endure this...

Welp - that was definitely a unique and different kick in the nuts from other losses this season.

Damn, Overshown was one of the only bright spots this season. I mean, when it rains it pours.

Tyler Smith gave us a scare too. Glad he's okay though.

And I now dislike it when CeeDee gets the ball because of his bum shoulder. That thing needs to heal, no reason to damage it further on this lost season. He needs to be limited, give other guys a chance to shine.

Yep. I’m in favor of shutting Cee Dee down as well. No one is going to question his toughness after this run. Unless there are performance targets in his contract he really feels compelled to reach - he should join Dak in the coaches booth.

From this morning’s DMN… and that’s some pretty high raise for the kid.

When pressed on Overshown’s impact and whether or not he reminds Zimmer of anyone else he’s coached, the defensive coordinator paid Overshown a huge compliment.

“Different positions, but kinda a guy like Darren Woodson,’’ Zimmer said of the safety in the Cowboys Ring of Honor. “Just the impact, the different things he can do, the speed he has and the physicality.

“I would say he’d be as close as anyone I could think of off the top of my head.’’

I can see that, he was making a huge impact. I think the team has to start looking for his replacement though. He shredded every tendon in his knee, he’s not going to be the same player. He may get to play again but I would be shocked if that same speed is there and his ability to stop and change direction (on a dime) are likely also gone.

I’m reminded of Randy Hughes. He was drafted out of OU as a replacement for Cliff Harris in ’75 and was absolutely on track to be a great. Had a terrific Super Bowl XII. Suffered a right shoulder injury in 1979 that ended up forcing out of the game by 1982.

I hate it for the kid. And yes - they need to find his replacement. This game is pretty damned unforgiving.

Yea it really sucks for the kid. He really has everything you want in a LB except good health.

What was that Safeties name that Bill Parcells brought in? All we kept hearing was how great he was in practice and how he was clearly the best safety on the team but the kid kept getting hurt and never actually made it into a regular season game. I think they cut him 2 years of that.

Edit: the guys name was Matt Johnson. He was actually drafted in 2012. Did everything right in practice and “could have” been a star just couldn’t stay healthy. I really hope Overshown doesn’t go out this way. Hopefully at very minimum he can come back and be a serviceable backup.

The state of this team forum is very important to BJJ. But the situation is that he has basically turned the General Forum into the Cowboys forum. No reason to repeat talking points in here that are made there.

Return to Dallas Cowboys
