Numbers don't tell everything but they can be pretty revealing... and they aren't good for Zeke while they are little surprising for Pollard.

So would you guys rather have Jalen Ramsey or Byron Jones? Or Both? Both will likely be cap casualties and be free on the open market.

But for the sake of your argument I have a question since you like stats, how many yards per carry did Zeke average this season?
3.8 is low yes, but still within range of other starters. Alvin Kamara averaged 4.0 is he done?
Zeke is on the downside, no arguments on that. Can he hit a homerun? Not anymore, that burst is gone. Can he do everything else? Yes he can. And he was very effective at grinding short yardage, IIRC he led the NFL in first down runs this season.
Remember David Johnson? He's still playing.
Adrian Peterson played until he was 36.
But Zeke is done at 27? I don't buy it, unless he is wanting top dollar still which is possible.
Zeke has never been known as a guy that takes care of body during the off season. Adrian Peterson never been known as a guy that gets drunk and is out at the clubs. So yes, he looks done at 27 years old.
Also I wouldn’t pay Alvin Kamara more than $3M per season at this point in his career either.
Honestly speaking I wouldn’t be surprised if the Cowboys let Pollard walk too. First I don’t think the Cowboys want to sign him to a big money long term deal. They do seem willing to franchise him though. If they do franchise him though you have to remember that he’s coming off a broken leg. Will he be ready by training camp? If not then when? Also will he even be the same player when he comes back? Is that worth franchising him?

It would be just a bit ironic if Zeke was released and the Cowboys signed Ramsey wouldn't it...
And - I'll pass on Jones. Lot of wear & tear there.

It would be a bit ironic. I would like to see the Cowboys actually spend some money in free agency this off season. With the Cowboys pass rush I think they could squeeze a couple more elite years out of Ramsey.

I want to see what and how we do in the draft first before considering FA's. Plus we are currently over the cap and have our own concerns in that department. I want to see first who we keep and who we let go before deciding on FA's and if we have the room to sign anyone.

Re: 2023 Cowboys Offseason News & Notes
CBs are the only position in football with a drop off age the same as RB. And just like RB when a CB has an amazing year they can score a big contract and then immediately fall off.
I guess my point here is, if you aren't a fan of signing a RB to big money, you shouldn't be a fan of signing a CB to big money.
Dolphins making Byron Jones the highest paid CB in the NFL is case and point too. Dallas got more out of Zeke than the Dolphins got of Byron Jones.

If we are going to spend big money on a FA I'd like it to either be a WR or a stud DT.

Daron Payne is a free agent but I don’t see Washington letting him go. He’d really be the ideal FA.

Can't believe there is no love for Tee Higgins in this room. Much rather have him than signing the Likes of OBJ or Hopkins.

Tee Higgins would be great (other than having to pay both him and CeeDee Lamb. Daron Payne is a stud DT that would make our defense real nasty though.

He’s as close to a no-brainer tag as anyone out there. You’re right. He’s not going anywhere this offseason.

Re: 2023 Cowboys Offseason News & Notes
I am in absolutely no way in hell wanting or thinking about extending the Contracts of Prescott and Elliott. It would be a huge mistake for the Cowboys to even consider it. But Jerry has a habit of setting the team back with his moves and contracts, so we will see what happens. Show Elliott the door and bite the bullet for one year on Dak. It will be easier to move on from Dak after next year when he chokes the season away again.

Mike Evans to the Cowboys? Another rumor to keep an eye on.

Mike Evans would put the offense over the top
I would love that addition.
Him or Hopkins.
Time to go all in. Make or break.

Re: 2023 Cowboys Offseason News & Notes
Instead of a Jerry, Jerry, Jerry thread, we should have a Stephen, Stephen, Stephen thread after his comments this morning. Stephen says, "we can still win a Super bowl with Dak and that Dak is everything you want in a QB."
I guess the Jones boys have to be all in with Dak at this point. I'm so glad I don't live in Dallas and have to listen to their garbage everyday on radio and in the media. Sad part is most of them eat it up and believe in the Jones boys.

Literally every owner would say this about their QB, what did you expect him to say that Dak sucks? And you don't have to live in Dallas to hear the Dallas front office, hence your post here.
Almost any QB can win a SB, see Peyton with Denver where he was the worst QB in the NFL. See Nick Foles. See a dozen other sub par QBs with rings.

You know what. I'll talk any subject with you except when it comes to Jerry and Dak. Will not discuss with you either subject moving forward. We will never agree when it comes to Jerry and Dak and never will. If you Stephen and Jerry think Dak is the QB that has everything you want in that position, I can't help you. I've been right on Jerry since 2002 and I was right 3 years ago saying Dak is not the guy and have his resume to back me up. I can't help if you don't see that your boy Dak is currently the weakest link on this team.
