Yea the TE came from the Chiefs. They’ve done a good job of filling out their roster so that when they go in the draft they can focus on taking the best player available.
Any inside info regarding daks' contract? Been hearing they have talks this week however, not revealing much. How much do you think we are going to end up paying him?

The last thing that came out was leaked this week. They are about to agree on a 4 year deal for $35M a season. I would be surprised if it doesn’t get signed this coming week.

That's a fair offer by the Cowboys. I was hoping not much more than 34M. I know its only year 4, but I'm not convinced he is better than Wilson.

Because he's not!

But that's the current market. You either pay him, or ride with guys like Dalton or Jameis.

At least we can keep a running back on the field for more than 5 games a season, :rofl2:

I'm not sure how you feel (we don't get to chat much anymore), but I think the reason it has taken this long to work out Dak's contract is all on Jerry. I;m not saying this, but I feel Jerry doesn't think Dak is our guy.

A couple of weeks ago that’s what some people were saying around here. That during the season Jerry would openly ask Stephen “are we sure this is our guy?” Apparently Jerry isn’t sold on Dak however Stephen and Will McClay are. I think that is the reason he wasn’t given an extension last off season. This off season I think Stephen and McClay won and they will resign Dak, they talked Jerry in to it. But then Dak wanted a shorter contract. The Jones’ want to lock him up for 7 years and Dak wants a shorter deal (4 years).

Big thanks to Stephen and Will. It wasn't too long ago Jerry wanted to draft junkie Johnny Manziel.

Ok, so the latest I’m hearing is that the Cowboys are favoring CB CJ Henderson at pick #17. Personally I would be ok with that.

If they can come away from the draft with any one of CB CJ Henderson, EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson, or DT Javon Kinlaw (my personal favorite), I would be happy.

What if all three are gone though? Who should they pick if all 3 are gone?

Your going to fall out of your seat on this one. With Poe and all the other pick ups I'm no longer starving for the D-Line. I want a CB or O-lineman in the first round. We just lost Frederick and the draft is deep at WR and OL. I wouldn't be upset at all if we got another stud O-lineman.

Yea could definitely use a center. I think they will be ok though with the players they have now. Either one of the Connor’s can play center and I have a feeling one of them will end up being the guy. I would not
be opposed to drafting another OL though. I would prefer the middle rounds though since it is a deep draft for OL.

Even though they have spent money on the defense this off season I want them to really load up on the defense. I would prefer a young beast at DT which is why I want Javon Kinlaw. They need more help at CB though and CJ Henderson is a beast at CB too. And K’Lavon Chaisson is the second best edge rusher in the draft. Any one of those guys would come in and be an immediate starter.

I believe our biggest immediate need is DB and I love your choice. However, what if all those guys you listed are gone by the time we pick? I see a scenario where 6 QB's will be taken in the top 12. I also see a few WR's and DE's also get mixed in there. We could have one of those stud O-Lineman starring us right in the face when we pick. Just a thought.
P.S. I love the LB, Simmons from Clemson. You know me with LB's. Lol. I just think DB is a more pressing area at the moment. I just hope we don't waste our first pick on a WR.

Sanders signed a 2 year deal with New Orleans. So there is definitely a chance they draft a WR. I also would not be surprised if they gave Dez a shot to come back and be the 3rd or 4th WR. But I also do agree that this draft will be focused mostly on defense.

I'm in total disagreement in bringing back Dez. No way. Don't trust him at all and I don't believe he will be a good locker room guy or team mate. If you remember correctly, I wanted to get rid of Dez going back to 2014 when he was a top 6 or 7 Wr at the time.

I agree that they shouldn’t bring him back. My reason is more on the field though. His play had already started to decline prior to being let go. Also he would be the 3rd or 4th WR at best. As the 3rd or 4th guy it’s imperative that he play Special Teams. He doesn’t have the speed to be a return guy anymore so he’d have to be a cover guy. I just don’t see him being willing to do that at an extremely high level. Also as the 3rd or 4th WR he would need to be making closer to the league minimum. I also do not see his ego allowing him to do that.

Cowboy interviewed a LB from Wisconsin over the weekend. Zack Baun. Interesting.

Yup, he’s more of an edge rusher from what I understand. Not sure if he’s being projected at 17 or if he’s being looked at as a middle round pick.

There have been some rumors that the Cowboys are looking at QB Jalen Hurts as a possible middle round pick. I’d love to see Hurts brought in to compete with Cooper Rush as the backup QB. Under McCarthy I would expect to see the Cowboys draft a QB every couple of years.

For me I want anyone of these three guys. DT Javon Kinlaw, CB CJ Henderson, or EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson.

My preference would be for Kinlaw. He potentially could give the Cowboys what Fletcher Cox gives to the Eagles. I would be extremely happy with any one of those 3 though. Adding a young elite edge rusher would only help. Chaisson is a beast off the edge. And CJ Henderson is a big CB. From what I understand he had some issues in 2019 however was great in 2018. He’s also not a great tackler. He is being projected though to be a very good pro, he should have a long career. But Kinlaw, then Chaisson, then Henderson for me.

Disclaimer: there is a chance all 3 are gone by pick 17.

Now would be a good time to find a QB. We have a 3 or 4 year window starting this year to make some serious noise. I think that is why Dak only wants a 4 year contract. Zeke will be done by then, Copper will only have one year left on his and Jerry will find a way to screw things up in between.

Dak wants a 4 year deal so that he can negotiate a new deal after the new TV money has kicks in. I read that the league is expecting a 50-60% increase in 2022 and the same increase again in 2023. Dak wants to be able to get paid again when that money kicks in.

I don't understand the problems with the Cowboys end. Sign the 4 year deal and get it over.

Return to Dallas Cowboys
