Traded for a fullback, lost a lineman and having Allen Hurns visit, interesting day. I don't see Hurns as a dez replacement but is definitely better than Williams. I know the Cowboys use fullbacks, but I wish they would have kept the pick and just found a FB for league minimum.

Living in the Washington DC area i probably don't get cowboys news as frequent, so im wondering if there has been any news about Hurns' visit Also how unhappy are people in the DFW that the Jones' went on spring break and couldn't get the badger for 1y-7m

They had no intention of signing Honey Badger. $7M is out of their price range with the other commitments they have. They feel good about the kids. Might as well roll with them.

And for the record, that is pretty much their entire approach to FA this year. I would like to see Hurns come in... for the right price. Rumor is he's looking for Sammy Watkins money. If that's the case, he will be looking elsewhere. He isn't getting that here.

Doesn't it seem like over the last 20 years ago, we get close, but can't get over that final hurdle and finish the deal in so many ways. Its either a bad draft, a bad trade, Bad contracts, injuries, Jerry, bad coaching, etc., now we have cap space and $$$ issues. All we have to do is finish the defense, get depth on the O-line, find a WR and look for a TE. We don't need much. Yea, right.

Still a few contracts to redo that will get Martin resigned. Get $3M June 1 with the Scandrick release. Bottom line is they are determined to build through the draft and keep as many of the good ones as they can. Romo comes off the books next year just in time to do Dak's and Zeke's deals. I'm actually OK with this business model. Beats throwing money at guys like Carr who underperform.

Wow. You mean we are going to build through the draft. I'm finally getting my way for the first time in 7 years. I don't know what to do with myself at the moment and I'm too old to do cart wheels.

Well they just signed Deonte Thompson, don't really know much about him other than he signed 1y-2.5m deal.

From what I understand he’s a speedster. He’s a guy that has the speed to take the top off the defense.

In addition to Thompson, they have now apparently sign Allen Hurns which make our WR core extremely crowded.

They have 7 WR’s right now, and that’s not including Lance Lenoir who I know the really like. If they draft a WR like Calvin Ridley I’d say they’d have to cut or trade 3 guys.

I think Beasley is perfect trade bait. It seems like New England is a perfect fit. Drafting a WR would also have to spell the end for Dez in Dallas (would also be a great fit in New England). Then Noah Brown and Switzer would battle for the last spot.

Classy act today by Jason Witten. re did his contract to free up 3.5 million. Nice to see some in the NFL want to win rather than make all the money he can. Witten is one Cowboy I would love see win a ring. Always loved the guy and is a total class act all the time. Can't help wonder if Dez will follow suit. But with Hurns, etc., it may be too late. The door may hit his ass on the way out the door post June 1.

Do you understand how re-working player contracts work nowadays? He's not taking a pay cut, bud. The NFLPA wouldn't allow it.

The team simply transfers his base salary (in most cases) into a bonus for the player. He more then likely gets to walk away with that money now, versus having to wait until the season (weekly game checks). The player gets more guaranteed money upfront & the team is able to save money on the cap. It's a Win-win.

Well, at least the ball is rolling. Glad to see some action. Now we need to have a great draft.

The more I read about Hurns, the more I’m starting to believe that Beasley’s days are numbered... not Dez. The film study I watched on The Athletic this morning sure shows his strengths in the slot.

Beasley also has the most trade value and the most tradeable contract. Also factor in that Switzer is touted as being able to do the same things Beasley can do. It just makes sense that he’d be the one that’s traded.

He won’t be the only one though. Right now they have 7 WR’s on the roster and that’s not including Lance Lenoir who they really like. If they still draft a WR (very likely) that will give them 8 (still not including Lance Lenoir). They will have to get rid of at least 3 and I really do not think Dez will be on of them.

So Beasley, and Williams will almost certainly be gone. Who would be the 3rd guy sent packing?

I was mostly referring to the fact that he helped create some much needed cap space. I should have been more clarifying. I forgot how much you hated me.
