We win that game with a defensive showing. Or a defense that just gives up 27.5 points (our average this year)

Teams win all the time with 2 INTs, that is never a deal breaker with a decent defense.

Dak threw 3 TD’s in garbage time when the defense had backed off. That game was over when Dak threw the pick 6. He was shook after that and played like crap until the defense dialed back the pressure.

Other than that I agree with you that this team needs to improve on defense. I still think they are going to keep Zimmer. Jerry has a soft spot for former employees and I think he’s going to want Zimmer to redeem himself. I’m not saying that’s what I want, just that I believe that’s what Jerry will do.

We should be talking about what players Zimmer will want in the draft and what do they do with the #12 pick.

It was 20-0 when Dak threw the pick 6 and the entire reason he was forcing deep throws was because it was 20-0.

Anyway, pointless to debate that game now, but the defense was pure dog sh*t that game I think we can at least agree on that.

I fear you are correct about Zimmer. And we for sure need a defender. I think either LB or CB. No need for edge that early because I think we need to assume Parsons is staying. He has even stated he would play in Dallas for less, he wants to stay here.

They will definitely need a LB and CB. They also need OL and DL too. There are 3 players I like so far that could fall to 12. CB Will Johnson from Michigan, OL Will Campbell from LSU, or OL Kelvin Banks from Texas. I would be ok with the Cowboys drafting any of those 3 over Ashton Jeanty.

After that it would be hard to pass on Jeanty. Personally I would look to trade down and pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick.

If they do stay at 12 and they pass on Ashton Jeanty there are a couple of LB’s that should be available but they’re more Edge rushers. I just find it hard they will pass on Jeanty if they can’t trade down. The talent gap between Jeanty and anyone else they could draft at 12 (besides the 3 guys I mentioned) is too huge in my opinion.

I'd be good with Jeanty, doubt he falls to us though.

That would be similar to CeeDee falling to us. It could happen, and gotta pull the trigger if it does.

Hmmm I do see a lot of mocks have Dallas taking Jeanty. I never considered that possibility. I think he is similar to Bijan Robinson type prospect.

I like the idea, he could be a game changer.

That would be an interesting pick. Most of Cowboys Nation would hate the pick. They would just group him in with Taco Charleston and Mazi Smith simply because he went to Michigan. Mason Graham can actually play though. I don’t see any way he drops to 12. If by some miracle Mason Graham is still on the board at 12 they definitely should draft him.

The guy looks like JJ Watt and I can't find a mock where he actually drops to 12 so I am probably dreaming. But he looks like the missing piece of the defensive puzzle to me. Stephen needs to trade up for him.

I see one of the OL or CB Will Johnson falling to 12 before I see Mason Graham falling to 12. I would not be upset if one of them fell to the Cowboys either though.

Elsewhere on Thursday, ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky suggested “many teams,” including the Cowboys, “are going to want to talk to some of the college football coaches” who are preparing for the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.

“I think teams and the Cowboys could want to talk to [Ohio State coach] Ryan Day. I think they could want to talk to [Notre Dame coach] Marcus Freeman. The way the NFL is going is trending a little bit toward the younger coach,” Orlovsky said on “Get Up,” as covered by Awful Announcing.

I’ve heard the Notre Dame coach is a hot commodity this off season. I don’t watch enough college football to have an opinion on him (or Sark either to be honest).

Same here.

I think I have now reached a point where I am just hoping for anyone but MM. Which is kinda sad now that I think about it. To be fair to MM it did feel like there were less mental errors on his part this season. But I just really think the team as a whole needs a fresh mindset and a new start, with whoever that might be.

I should be more focused on Zimmer being replaced I guess, and not the HC. Because that seemed to have the most impact on the team. I don't see much about Zimmer in the news. So who knows what is going on with that. I guess they have to decide on the HC first before figuring out what to do there.

The last report I read said that the Cowboys have not asked for permission to interview any other coaches. Right now they seem to be putting all of their eggs in the Mike McCarthy basket, and maybe a couple for Sark.

I just have a feeling this is going to end really bad.

I’m telling you man, they’re keeping both.

The question is who will the OC be and who will call plays.

Would McCarthy be willing to give up playcalling?

Yeah, it sounds like they want to bring the entire staff back.

He may not have a choice. The difference is he may be get to pick his OC this time.

Here’s the latest on McCarthy and the Cowboys, there’s nothing new. Apparently they still have not had talks. Also Jerry still has not asked for permission to interview any other coaches (that are currently actively coaching).

This is my opinion based on everything I’m seeing. Jerry has reached those last few years where Al Davis was, where he just seems to have really lost it. He seems extremely arrogant (more than usual) and a lot of his moves don’t make sense. It appears that he’s going to wait until the last second to make MM a real offer (lowball offer). He’s expecting MM to cave early and Jerry will look like the winner.

I think MM walks though. Jerry will then have to dip into the not currently coaching market (plus Zimmer). We could be sitting her next week with Jon Gruden as the Cowboys new HC.

I mean he did grow up close to Dallas so makes sense he would like to play for the Cowboys. Over the next two drafts any chance thenCowboys could end up with both Ashton Jeanty and Arch Manning?

This is going to be a long off-season.

Return to Dallas Cowboys
