Does Murray get 2000 yards?

Post#1 » by ncmalko1 » Wed Nov 12, 2014 4:15 am

Currently he is at 1,233 which is friggin incredible with 6 games still left. It breaks down like this:

He needs to average 128 yards a game to break 2000
He needs to average 145 yards a game to break Dickersons all time record of 2105

Things going against him in his quest is if the Cowboys keep racking up wins the last week might not matter for the Boys.

If he can have one more huge game in the next 2 games I think he can get the 2000. THis gives him a little room for a so so game. But you have to be impressed. You'd think if he finished the season at 1233 (where hes at now) you would have been stoked before the season to know this. THe crazy thing is 2nd place RB is like 500 yards behind him.

WAnt to see him play Philly. It surprised me Carolina would run WillIams last night on short yardage. I thought both ran well on first down. I really think we can run on anyone with Romo at Qb. I don't think he gets either though. The last few weeks have been tough yards. Early in the season it seemed like he would go 6, 8, 6, 12, 2, 23. Now it's 3,4,2,23. It has made a tremendous difference with our 3rd downs this yr

Dallas has proved they can run on anyone. No one ran for over 100 yard on Seattle in a loooong time and Murray gashed them. Its working this year BIG TIME.

Couple things I found really interesting looking at the top single seasons RBs have had. I remember Tiki Barber being good for a while but I was shocked to see he went over 1800 yards and had a 1662 season too. Another one was seeing Larry Johnson putting up 3539 yards in two years! Dickerson having 3 seasons over 1800. Willie Parker having a 1500 yard season???

I doubt it. No big deal though, as long as the running game still does the trick overall.

not likely.
1700/1800 yards would be unreal and make him a strong league MVP possibility.

I think he would need one of those 208 yard rushing games ...then maybe he has a shot.

I don't think he does it. I think he gets the Cowboys record, but will fall short of the 2k mark.

As the seasons gets closer to the end. One I am still not convinced we will take the one that brought us. Meaning I think we will slowly start see more passing again as pressure builds. Also we will attempt to save him some for the playoffs if it looks like we are gonna make it. So I think his personal production will trail off some, even if we stick with running the ball a ton. Then add Defenses usually get better in the winter. Just seems unlikely to see him get 2k. To many reasons for him not to get it. IMO.

That's always been Garrett and Romo's MO. When the times get tough their aholes pucker up and they don't have the courage to stick with the run. I'm confident that if we make the playoffs and have a first and goal from the 2 and on first down we run for no gain that we'll be throwing on second down and I'll be yelling before the snap to please run the ball...

It did surprise me that the first TD the other day we threw on 2Nd and third down from the two. I can't blame 3rd down on Romo because they came out empty backfield.

No disrespect intended here. Being able to run when the other team is lined up to stop the run is great and perhaps the most exciting thing about this years version of the Dallas Cowboys. This league is also about scouting, tendencies and predictability from one week to the next. Maybe next time on 1st and goal from the two, they'll pass on first down and run on 2nd/3rd.

Well that's true but on third down Romo scrambled around and had to find Witten. In other words , I don't think that was the play call. I don't care how we score , just make sure we do it. It used to be second down was the play action down. I think now its first down. We don't usually use the play action down there.

Rushing it for 4 times from the 2 ..what team is going to stop Murray and this O line from scoring.

The mentality of Romo and Garrett should be, I dare you to stop us. Instead, one stuffed run and they instantly lose confidence. Makes no sense.

Best fan position in all sports is armchair QB.
Good play when it works and what the heck when it don't
Hindsight is always 20/20.

Just score. Not sure the percentages on the passes to Dez but I would guess really high. I mean Weeden as bad as he played actually threw a TD pass to Dez vs the Peterson. But I have heard GArrett, Romo , whoever criticized for not running the ball down there. So to some it's not a good play. Just score.

I agree with the just score statement, but when you can run the ball at will even against stacked boxes why not run it if all you need is 2 yards with 3 tries to get it. This team passes more often than not in these situations.

PDay is right though. If it works it was a great call, if it doesn't work the coach and QB are idiots.

No doubt that is often the case, but I can guarantee you in that situation I am saying run BEFORE the snap pretty much every time. And I'm not OK with the shot gun delay run either. Snap the chin straps on tight and run it up their asz. Sometimes it won't work, but when you have a QB that has shown he won't sail the ball out of the back of the end zone when needed and when your success is tied directly to the run...it's the right call about 75% of the time to me...

So 9 or 10 in the box, with Dez outside with some poor Cb that's by himself- you would run it every time. When have you ever wanted him to throw it out of the end zone.
