2014 Defense

Post#1 » by PDay8810 » Tue Dec 30, 2014 7:12 pm

Total Defense/Yards Allowed
Dallas #19
Wash #20
Philly #28
NYG #29

Points Allowed Per Game
Dallas 22
Wash 27.4
Philly 25
NYG 25

which was the point all along last August when everyone and their grandmother was talking worst defense in football because of 2013. The brains had no concept about defense in general...only that Ware, hatcher and Lee wouldn't be back from the worst D in cowboy history. How dare any football fan think positively.

and yes sir texas heat....they did have players that ranked afterall.....and, THAT WAS THE POINT ALL ALONG

15th in points against in the NFL and get this: 1 point per game out of the top 10!

I always use points more so than yards allowed. I know that STs and turnovers can lead to points, but the name of the game is points. Funny thing is we weren't even last in the NFL last yea in points when all this talk was rampant. I think we were like 27 or 28 out of 32.

Did you notice how they're doing in regards to turnovers? It's not too shabby.

I'm confused. Who said they were gonna be dead last? I remember Heat saying there isn't much meat on that bone.

Many had us with 5 or 6 wins and 8-8 at best.

I think I had us at 10-6 , but I missed all but 5 games. In other words I had us winning all 4 that we lost. I had us losing to Tn, Seattle, No, Chicago, @ Philly , @ Ny. Now defensively, I didn't think we would be as good as our numbers showed. I read an interesting stat today- there were 5 Cbs in the league that played over 700 snaps and didn't allow a TD- 2 of them were Scamdrick and Moore

I'm not going to point fingers at anyone on here because I cannot definitely say who the 6-10 are. I do know I PDay and Jarntt kept trying to tell others the defense would be around 20 if they avoid injuries. I firmly believe lasts years defensive personnel could have been top 10 if it didn't go through 20 DLmen.

You can point fingers at me if you want. My original prediction was 7-9. Hoping for a 9-7, but after lee went down, I had zero good feelings in our Defense. So I can take it. (Cowboys have had me eating crow all year LOL)
Never would have dreamed 12-4. I am sure FWD would have predicted 13-3 or better, but don't think any rational fan would have guessed 12-4.

I remember Pday going at it with all the 6-10ers. I wasn't confident enough to argue against the idea of the Cowboys defense being better, but have to admit after Lee went down was leaning more towards the 6-10ers argument.

There were a few 6-10 dead set against this team having any chance at all. I think you are correct that no one honestly saw 12 wins. My argument was they went 8-8 with mass injuries. Cut the injuries and we are a 10 win playoff team. My prediction was 10 wins give or take a game.

A few weeks ago I thought we had no shot at the SB but with the way the team finished SB is not out of the question. Long shot yes but it is possible.

I do remember freaking out after a preseason game. I can't remember which one but it was ugly defensively. The defense has definitely come a long way since then. The rotation along the front has really been fun to watch. The LBs have been the most impressive unit IMO because of the injuries. The front office will have a decision or two to make in the off seAson regarding those guys. The back end has seemed to get better, although the screens looked bad Sunday. I think Carr , Spencer, Carter are plAying their best football right now.

well............I was still wrong about Bobby Carpenter all those years ago.

after reading the hoop the last three months. I'm in a better place here. I never woulda made it through the season with those as the wind blows opinions that always seemed based on an opinion of media heads.

"New wave Cowboy fans? I've been a loyal fan since my dad took me to my first game in the Cotton Bowl. I've been thru the bad years at the end of the Landry era when guys like you were saying everything was just peachy. Been therer, done that. And I'm damn sure ain't drinkin no koolade Jerry Jones is brewing up. You think things are great, good for you. I don't, I see the same problems with management, coaching and players. This ain't my first rodeo.

You don't want to listen to reality, don't read the posts.

But you constantly calling out other fans for their realistic opinions of the team is both insulting and tiring.

:: there are so many Cowboy fans that would love to post here, but are put off by you and Manster and your other friends. I, like UBP, grew up a Cowboy fan when they were 0-11....I knew the starting lineup of a losing team....I remember Ralph Neely and the Holding Company. Do you?

I don't understand how POS's like you are allowed to spew your crap against other posters and drive off a LOT of good folks...and the good one's are given crap by the mods (i.e. Just ignore them and start your own thread)....which drive them off.

SMH.

You had a chance...

where are all these guys? I was dusted September 7th and it's as if the mission was served since then.
Maybe they woulda posted more if Dallas had been what so many said they were in August.

Sure looks that way. I remember replying to UBP and it was almost like he told me to relax or chill. Hidden meaning- we aren't after you

best part is reading the general board. Wizardhawk is me with a badge. What a joke that remains
