IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett hands out game balls, boxing gloves, hammers and T-shirts to recognize players after their wins.

When Garrett was informed that Tony Romo was named the NFL’s Player of the Month, he shrugged.

“We don’t get caught up in Player of the Week, Player of the Month, all of that stuff, but he’s certainly played very well,” Garrett said. “There’s no question about that.”

Romo exorcised his December demons by leading the Cowboys to a 4-0 record and an NFC East championship. He completed 74.8 percent of his passes and had 12 touchdown passes and just one interception. He threw for 987 yards. It is the fourth Player of the Month award of Romo's career.

He also posted the highest December passer rating (133.7) in NFL history.

“Tony has been a really, really good player, and I think he’s benefited from a lot of snaps he’s taken in this league,” Garrett said. “But part of playing well at the quarterback position is trying to create an environment where it’s a good team around him -- both on offense and really throughout our team. Tony has done a great job responding to circumstances he’s been in this year. He’s played at a very high level.”

Not to shabby for a guy haters like to call Choko.

Seldom has Romo ever played better than the last month. Not just the stats, but the wins and less mental errors too. If he can play as well in the playoffs we will be a very, very tough out.

I hear a lot of guys some taking credit away from Romo because of his line. And yet he was sacked more time than Rodgers, Brady and almost sacked twice as many times as Peyton.

He has been unbelievable, and yet he still really really hates to throw the ball away when he should.
I don't see him fixing that with playoff pressure. I'll go assume we can overcome a couple of unnecessary sacks.

Both he and Murray have credited the line for their success. Aikman and Smith got the same treatment. I doubt Romo is too worried about those degrading him because of the line he plays behind.

A well deserved award for Romo playing at a very high level. He still wants to make amends and seek redemption with his unfinished business in Seattle should we go back.

That is the answer to your point in your previous post about more sacks than the other guys IMO. Very few of the sacks this year have been unavoidable. He just holds the ball too long. But, you take the good with the bad I guess because that is how he makes plays too. The only ones that drive me insane are the ones that take us out of FG range or where he could just air mail out of the back of the end zone, but instead makes a 2nd and goal from like the 3 into a 3rd and goal from the 15 or so...

Fact is no QB is playing better right now in the entire league
