On To Green Bay

Post#1 » by PDay8810 » Mon Jan 5, 2015 5:17 pm

I love the 2014 version of the Dallas Cowboys. I said all summer that the coaching will be huge and it was again yesterday. I would not go for it on 4th and 6, but that woulda been counter productive to the Garrett message all year. This team finds ways to win and not ways to lose. IMO, Jason Garrett is the NFL coach of the year.

Some defensive observations:
Hutchins is a helleva football player.....(Nailed that one UK...LOL)
JJ Wilcox can play on my team any day.
Nick Haden best exemplifies what this defense is all about
Spencer is all the way back and just in time
Carr isn't near as butt ugly as many in the media portray
Bruce Carter found his na ds

GO COWBOYS!
Last time a playoff game in Green Bay with Dallas was the Ice Bowl. Here's to a GREAT WEEK!

We will have to win this game differently than we did vs. Detroit. Of course that is the great thing about how our team is built, we can win in different ways.

No play defined their season more than a 21-yard hookup between Romo and Jason Witten. Facing fourth-and-6 from the Detroit 42, Dallas coach Jason Garrett did not flinch, but he did call timeout with six minutes to play to calm everything and everybody down.

“He really deserves all the credit for that because the book might say, ‘Don’t do that,’ but when you’re playing to win …,” passing game coordinator Scott Linehan said.

How about that Cole Beasley kid though? Went from quitting to becoming a solid NFL player. I'm not sure where this offense would be without him now. What a 3rd down weapon he is. He could have had more catches if Romo made some better throws.

And after rewatching the game, I gotta rescind my original thoughts on how Romo played. Yes, Romo took some horrible sacks, but he never really put the offense at risk for a turnover and he eventually made up for those horrible sacks with that game-winning drive. Romo made a conscientious effort not to turn that football over yesterday and it makes me forgive him for some of those errant passes. Protecting the football is the most important thing a qb can do in a playoff game and Romo did his best not to turn it over. A back breaking interception would have hurt this team big time yesterday but Romo avoided it. I think I trust Romo more now to win a road playoff game more than I ever have before.

I'm hoping for a very cold wet game. What to make this game all about the run. I'd feel much better if our DB's don't have to cover those receivers.

I hate the look , the field, basically everything about Lambeau. It seems like the ball always bounces their way at that place. Detroit was there a week ago and looked totally different than they did yesterday. I know not many of us fans seemed to give Detroit much credit throughout the year., but they surprised me at how good they were on defense. I know we were behind the chains a lot on offense and had to do certain things, but damn they made it hard. I've always thought Suh was a little overrated. After yesterday I have to change my thoughts. I think we beat a pretty damn good team. Their offense kind of surprises me. Too good of skill players to only put up that amount of points average wise.

Green Bay is no sure thing winning playoff games at Lambeau.
Just look at recent playoff history.

a team is dangerous when they believe.

Maybe that's why I get anxious and nervous. I love this team. You mentioned 6 players. 3 maybe 4 won't even be on this team next year.

It's amazing how many big plays Beasley makes for us.

Disagree on what you said about the sacks. Throwing it out of the end zone is the safest thing to do. There is practically no chance of something bad happening. Protecting the ball also includes not taking a sack and fumbling the ball like we did; luckily we recovered. It is also important not to make a 27 yard FG a 41 yarder and a 30 something yarder a 51 yarder. This isn't even a question, is it?

Romo also had some poor throws and benefited from some short passes turning into huge plays. But, he played OK overall, didnt throw any picks like you said and more importantly he clutched out the win. Yeah he missed a wide open Escobar that would have made it an easy score, but where many QBs may have let that get to them he followed it up with a GREAT play to win the game in a HUGE spot. That wasn't an easy TD pass. If anyone is going to bring up Romo choking and blaming him instead of the team, then they must call the game winning drive a clutch Romo drive. I don't care what happens next week this drive needs to be remembered for what it was in a playoff win

6 sacks. At least 3 of them he had no chance. On one of those the line never moved and he fumbled. I totally disagree on the 41 yd fg too. Indoors with no weather that is a chip shot. The other sacks I agree with. I do though wonder if he had that throw away mentality - what would have happened on that last play. He missed 12 passes . I remember one drop by Murray, so 11. I actually be
I actually believe him on throwing the ball low. He did three times that I know of. The Escobar pass I'm not remembering. Another he threw a bomb short to Williams right before he got blasted. I understand it wasn't his MVP like performances I will take it.

What's the best , most clutch throw you ever saw Aikman make?

Oh I thought you meant one of our Super Bowl wins. I watched every bit of that game in December. He was pretty bad. He cost me about 800 that day in fantasy football. I also think it should have cost him the MVP, considering it cost his team HFA

I'm tired of your irrational, agenda driven, tunnel vision, never his fault defense of Romo. You have no credibility on the topic. Your comments on the FGs and not throwing it away are as bad as you blaming every interception on someone else. Talk to someone who gives a **** about it...

Just read a stat from 2013. Kickers that hear yr were 90 percent on fgs 40-49 yards. Now factor that in to an indoor stadium and it was Dan BAiley - it was a damn chip shot.

Agenda driven.??? What kind of agenda is that? Why not answer my questions? I bet Pday will answer the best throw Aikman ever made clutch wise.

U sound like a cry baby not getting your way . Believe me as much as I take up for him , you bash him just as much. So none of the sacks yesterday were the OLines fault? Did u hear his post game? He said he intentionally threw low. He then said he should have done a better job on a couple of those as well.

Per Weather.com the temp in GB this Sunday will be between 12 and 16 degrees during the game and foggy. I hope the fog is extremely dense.
