Cowboys sign Darren McFadden.

Not sure how I feel about this signing as of yet. I feel I've seen this movie before when Jerry falls in love with his Arkansas boys.

Very little financial risk. It's a dice roll.

I'm not sure if I see the value in this signing or if it makes us better on offense.

If he's had it - it only costs $250K and he's gone. If he has something and can actually contribute as the second RB (he cannot be looked at as a starter - if he is then this move sucks) then the financial impact is tolerable.

Doesn't change the fact that a RB is now in play when the draft rolls around.

Cowboys sign Darren McFadden.

I don't think there is any question they draft a RB. I'm thinking 2nd or 3rd round. Round 1 will either be a DT (hoping for Carl Davis), CB, or LB.

As for McFadden I'm interested to see what he has left. He's a pretty good receiver out of the back field and a good blocker. When healthy he's still pretty fast too. In Oakland he's never had a good o-line and has never had teammates at the skill position like he'll have in Dallas. He's also only a few months older than Murray so it's not like he's old. If he can stay healthy I think he could have a pretty productive year.

The base value of Darren McFadden's two-year deal in Dallas is just $3 million.
The number was originally reported at nearly $6 million. McFadden got a $200,000 signing bonus -- even less than 2014 practice squad RB Ryan Williams -- and won't be assured a roster spot in camp. The Cowboys reportedly viewed McFadden as a "home-run hitting backup" before they signed him. He isn't a home-run hitter at all anymore, and will add very little to Dallas' run game.

so if I read this right, if he gets cut & doesn't make the team he only cost us 200k.

BTW what happened to Williams?

Correct, that is all it costs us which is why you have to like the deal. Even if you don't like McFadden how can you find a downside? Williams is right in the thick of it. Has as good a chance to win the starting job as the others IMO.

There is "something" about Williams that they are clearly intrigued by. Anyone have a feeling one way or another on that? I'm honestly not familiar with his prior work.

I heard that Williams had turned down offers to go elsewhere & stayed on our Practice Squad last year.
Makes me wonder if he was led to believe he could be going places with this team?
I saw him in preseason & thought he should have earned a roster spot over those that were on the roster, but was never brought up.
Hope he does get a fair shot.
As far as McFadden. On the surface, not thrilled of the signing, but for as cheap as it is to take a look, it is worth the chance of checking if he still has some of his pedigree left. (pretty much what we did with Williams)

I like the signing personally he is productive when healthy with very little financial risk and this draft is so loaded with runningbacks it should be fine and williams is also a good back when healthy but he like Mcfadden hasn't been too healthy through the years

He has very little wear and tear on him due to injuries over the years. If he stays healthy I can see him possibly having a very good year behind our O-line. I can help but wonder if we are leaning toward a 1, 2 punch at RB this year. If this is the route we are taking, I would like to know who the other guy is we will be depending on.

Skip Bayless went way out on a limp yesterday and reported that Adrian Peterson will be in a Cowboy uniform for the start of next season.
