Greg Hardy

Post#1 » by Schmoopy1000 » Wed May 27, 2015 4:51 am

NFL Network's Albert Breer believes Cowboys DE Greg Hardy's ten-game suspension will be reduced "by a significant number" on appeal.
Keep in mind this is the same league that suspended Ray Rice two games for knocking out his fiancee, and Tom Brady four games for allegedly-sorta deflating footballs. All bets are off regarding Hardy's ban. Hardy already missed 15 games on the Commissioner's Exempt List last season, which will work in the favor of his appeal. He's currently not slated to return until Week 12.

When the ink is dry I think he gets 2 games. I'm basing this on the courts telling the NFL the punishment had to match that which was in effect when he committed the offense. On site read is saying 6 games. I believe it will be either of these or in the middle with 4.

We will see soon.

I agree. I'll be very surprised if its more than 2 games.

I will be a little suprised but not shocked. I expect for the NFL to say 6 games and Hardy argue for 0 maybe 2. They will agree in the middle with 3 or 4.

My thoughts a few days ago was Hardy will argue for 2 games, but I see they are going to use AP as the precedence and after Judge Doty ruled the NFL has to re-learn that appeal the NFL simply reinstated AP. Hardy's team will argue the cases are similar and the NFL has already set the rule.

If this guy can stay healthy and keep his head on straight, he will be huge for us this year.

Agree. Good or bad, liked or not liked, if they can get us wins and a shot at the SB I'm good with them wearing the star.

I don't care for Hardy as a person but he's a damn good football player.

Obvious passing downs are going to be really fun to watch this year when the Cowboys line up Lawrence/Crawford/Mincy/Hardy/Gregory in a 5 man rush!

Have to admit we had another very good draft and I'm satisfied for the most part. However, I'm still pissed we didn't take Malcom Brown.

Yeah... I'm still a little miffed about that myself. But I keep reminding myself that we ended up with three of the Top 25 players available in this draft and I feel better.

Can't have everything. Wouldn't know where to put it.

hopefully Hardy can keep his stuff straight and just concentrate on football once the dust settles but I honestly think this is going to court and will be settled there

If they try to give him 5 or more I think it goes to court. 3 or 4 it still may, the only way I'm sure Hardy doesn't take it to the court is 2 games or less.

I just can't understand why the NFL is taking so long on this matter. Is there any benefit for us that this is dragging out this long and effect the number of games with current suspension?

With all the other suspensions today... you would have thought his had top priority. Goodell is probably saving him and Brady for separate announcements.

Milk the publicity. It's what the league does.

4 games. Pretty much what we thought it would be and a fair ruling all in all.

Now... training camp!

Can't see or feel the effects of last springs draft. This season is OVER.

Yeah... The view from the bottom isn't the one I had planned this season. And although on paper and in theory any number of arguments can be made in support of "we still have a chance", the reality is the Giants game was crucial. The schedule - which looked favorable before Week 2 - isn't favorable now.

As far as #76... here's hoping that talk from S. Jones about a long term deal was nothing more than a feedbag for the leering press.

Wish I could go back to the hoop for just one day. I remember Earl, making a post last year, just before the playoffs after the incredible season we had regarding the CHANGE OF CULTURE at Cowboy nation. Pday and many other agreed with it. I was just enjoying the incredible ride so much I really didn't see the flaw in that statement, till just now. It feels like we were so desperate for a decent ride and run for a change that we really didn't look close enough since then. Personally, It doesn't appear to me that the culture or anything has changed in the front office, with ownership or anywhere else on this team. Because we were in such salary cap hell for so many years, and we know who is responsible for that, Jerry and his boys decided to go back down the road once again with thugs like McClain and Hardy. The quick fix, win today theory, no matter the price or cost. Last year was just smoke in Mirrors. :banghead:

Carolina seems to be a better defense and team without him. He's a time bomb waiting to explode. Lets cut our losses now and get ready for next year. I'd rather tank the season as much as that is hard to say for me. Its what we really need to do.
