San Diego On The Board?

Post#1 » by bluejerseyjinx » Fri Apr 22, 2016 3:11 am

Now that we know Goff and Wentz are gone. Who makes the next big offer to the Chargers? My crystal ball is telling me Ramsey and possibly Tunsil are the next play. Many teams want Ramsey. If Ramsey is gone by our pick, I hope we get a sell the farm offer from someone and move back a little. I vision Cleveland wanting to move back to 4 and take Tunsil. We would get #7 and Cleveland's #2. We could still get a much needed Deforest Buckner at #7, trade up a little bit with one of our #2's and get Lynch late in round 1 and then use our other #2 for Dixon, another DE or LB. Or do you guys have other ideas to throw out there?

Now that the QB's are gone I don't think any other teams sell the farm to move up. There will be offers sure but like what Tennessee or Cleveland got. If Tunsil is there and Tennessee offered two 2nd's to move up I'd take it. The Chargers will get that offer first though and I'd expect them to take that deal. I'm not certain they would take Ramsey if he's there. I still think Elliott is very much in play.

There is some talk that both Cleveland and Tennesse are interested in moving back up to take Tunsil. I can see that happening. 49ers, Redskins, Steelers, Ravens and Jaguars all interested in Ramsey. I hear 49ers are real hot for him and have the cap space, like the Jaguars to make it happen.

After morning reports and insider/expert opinion, I don't believe San Diego will take Tunsil or anyone will move up to draft him. Apparently, many teams have him dropping out of their top 5's and falling even farther for some. I guess Tunsil has longevity issues with most teams. He has never played a full season, been injury prone and has had a suspension or two. He was never one my radar anyway so I didn't have in minds for us. But what I do think is Ramsey is the guy in play now. Does San Diego take Ramsey or does someone make an offer to the Chargers and move up to take Ramsey. That just may depend on who wins out on the Joss Norman sweepstakes. So say I am right and it plays out this way, Goff, Wentz and Ramsey. What would be our scenarios then?

I think with the new reports this morning on Tunsil and the way he is dropping in most boards, I think Ramsey is the guy now in play. Does San Diego take Ramsey or does someone move up and make a deal with the Chargers to get him? I can see many or all of the teams currently making a play in the Josh Norman sweepstakes to be those among the teams. I can make a case currently that there are at least 13 teams that would love to have a shut down corner. If I am right that means Goff, Wentz and Ramsey are gone. What are our scenarios now? This should be good.

If Ramsey goes at 3 and no one wants to trade up for Tunsil the choice for Dallas will come down to Bosa or Elliott. I read a report earlier that says the scouting department really wants Ramsey/Bosa and the coaching staff (including Marineli) really wants Elliott. If that's the case then Jerry would be the tie breaker. Of the two Elliott is the more exciting pick. Plus I think Jerry always regrets taking a solid DE (Greg Ellis) and passing on a great offensive player (Randy Moss) that will be a HOF'er. I don't see him doing that again, so I think Elliott will be the pick at 4 if that scenario plays out.

Trade inquiries into the No. 3 pick & the No. 4 pick have cooled considerably since the #Eagles move. Seems many are content to stick & pick

--------------------------------------

This is not surprising at all. I fully expect the Chargers to take Ramsey. There is a chance they take Buckner but they have talked about really needing to find a replacement for Weddle. So that makes me think again that the choice will come down to Bosa or Elliott. Between those two give me Elliott all day.

You don't see anyone moving up to take Ramsey or Tunsil and giving San Diego some much needed draft picks to help fill their enormous holes?

Nope, I really don't. Tunsil does have some injuries questions and did have an incident off the field while in college and I think teams would rather stay where their at and draft the OT from Notre Dame or the one from Michigan instead of giving up picks for Tunsil.

Based on the press conference today it seems like the Cowboys have narrowed their choices down to Ramsey or Zeke. Jerry seems to really like Zeke while the rest of the guys in the war room like Ramsey. If Ramsey goes to San Diego I really believe Zeke will be our pick at 4.

Most mock drafts till today have San Diego taking Ramsey. Seen many mock drafts today, mostly on NFL network have them taking Buckner, the guy I want. Then I hear them report if that happens everyone in the Dallas camp wants Ramsey except Jerry. He wants Elliot which I think is a huge mistake. Unless you guys all think he is the next coming of a Jim Brown, Peterson, Walter Peyton or something, you don't take a RB that high.

I actually do think Zeke would be special if he came to Dallas. He has the physical build, blocking ability, and receiving skills to be a 3 down back. A guy that will get about 20 carries a game, a workhorse back. There are very few Peterson's, Payton's Barry Sanders and Jim Brown's. Some people don't even include Emmitt in that class of runners. Just because Elliott is not in that class doesn't mean he can be an All Pro caliber RB (especially with this OL). The team invested BIG TIME in this OL. It's time to help it reach its potential. We saw a glimpse of what they can be in 2014, and that was without Collins who should be better this year. They could actually have 4 All Pros on the line this year. It's time to quit wasting their talents and put an elite back behind them. Emmitt may not have been those guys but he was elite and he had as much to do with that line's success as they had for his. The same could be for this line if they out an elite back behind them.

I couldn't disagree more. We can get a very good RB in rounds 2-4 that will be just as effective. You continuously ignore the fact we only have 2 players on defense. Is your plan by taking Elliot in the first round is that will be able to score 41 points a week to win games? I guess you want a defense of practice squad players.

By having a dominant running game and controlling the clock you keep the defense off the field. If they are wanting to maximize Romo's remaining 2 years the best thing they can do is give him a running game better than the one they had in 2014. This defense is not going to be built in 1 year. Take the player that will have the biggest immediate impact, a game changer, that's Elliott. Then load up on defense the rest of the draft. It's just as easy if not easier to find defensive talent in rounds 2-7 as it is to find a RB. We won't find a RB as complete as Zeke in the middle rounds.

Show me since 1996 where we even tried to build a defense. When have we ever been good on defense in this time span? How many more years do we need to wake up at the end of the season, only to find out we finished in the bottom 1/4 or 1/3 of the league in all defensive categories. Its called only 3 playoff wins in 20 years. We are always behind and playing catch. We've asked Romo to try and do way too much over the years. When your behind all the time, it doesn't matter about the running game. Another reason why Romo is getting hurt and taking more hits. A great defense changes your whole approach, game planning, etc. Great defensive players last much longer than running backs anyway. Here is a perfect chance to solidly fix a long term need. And at this moment, we don't need another drug addict on this team. Let Elliot go and do his drugs with someone else and burn himself out in 2 or 3 years. I say hell no to both Elliot and Bosa.

They've taken several defensive players with premium picks since 1996. Demarcus Ware and Marcus Spears ring a bell? Both taken in the 1st round the same year. Sean Lee was a 2nd rounder. Jenkins drafted in the 1st round. Hell they even traded up to get Claiborne. Crawford, Scandrick and Hatcher taken in the middle rounds. Greg Ellis, also a top 10 pick. The problem is not them picking defense with premium picks, it's coaching. Until that changes the defense will remain the same. We have an offensive minded head coach. I don't want to waist another premium pick on a guy that will be out of the league within 5 years.

You can't be serious? Really. Every guy you mentioned up there except for Scandrick, is a total bum and I wouldn't give any of those guys a mop job. And don't get me started with Ware. Roadhog, please vouch for me. Demarcus Ware IMHO, which I posted on Hoopla over 2 years ago is the 2nd most over rated Cowboy we ever had. I wouldn't even give him a mop job. Only one other Cowboy was more over rated imo, and that was Harvey Martin. I almost came out of my chair when I saw you mention Claiborne. We moved up to get him at #6. And how did that work out for us. Remember what I said a few weeks ago by taking CB's and WR's in the first round and being held hostage by it, well, I still haven't changed my mind.

Spears, Ware, Ellis, Crawford and Hatcher. Please Mr. B. I love ya right to death but I thought you were gonna make me eat my words. Thought you were going to throw out names like Lilly, White, Jones, Lett, Haley, Renfro, Woodson, etc., at me, not those bums.

Lilly, White, Jones, Lett, Haley, Renfro, and Woodson were all drafted prior to 1996. You said they haven't invested in the defense, I pointed out how they have. And regardless of what YOU think about Ware the fact is he's a likely HOF. Spears was a 1st round pick by "the great" Bill Parcels (talk about overrated). Parcels even wanted Spears over Ware. Crawford and Hatcher both got big contracts because of their play. I didn't even mention Ratliff who was a multiple Pro Bowler. Claiborne sucks now but he was by far the best athlete in his draft and at the time was being compared to Patrick Peterson. Claiborne is actually a perfect example of why Ramsey shouldn't be the pick (although I do like Ramsey). Everything they are saying about Ramsey they said about Claiborne when he was coming out of school.

I see that investment of players got us 3 playoff wins in 20 years. Not acceptable.
