2016 Week 1 - The G-Men

Post#1 » by Otis Driftwood » Thu Sep 8, 2016 11:48 am

Time to put away all the speculation.

Time to see what approximately $200M can buy your team on defense... and what $20 and three suspensions can buy you on defense.

Time to see if arguably the best Offensive Line in pro football can exceed expectations. Because you know the Giants are going to fill the box. They are going to try and make Dak throw the ball. And - not dump-off throws either.

My big worry is this. Eli. You don't get pressure on him, he will never get uncomfortable. I like Eli better as a Cowboys fan when he's uncomfortable. Because he WILL make those "Bad Eli" throws when he's uncomfortable.

I like our Heroes in this one. But it will be a close one and turnovers will decide it. Dak just has to be the guy not making them.

I shouldn't be nervous, but I am. The defense is what scares me the most and you guys know all the reasons. But its the unknowns we have on offense as well. And please, no Doug Free on passing downs.

The Cowboys defense definitely worries me too however keep in mind that the Giants have one of the worst OL in the NFL. This battle will come down to who sucks less. They HAVE to find a way to get some pressure on Eli, even if it's by blitz.

In the end though I think the Cowboys run game will be just too much for them. They do have a great DL and and I think to help Dak we are going to see them call a lot of screens.

I won't predict a score but I do think the Cowboys end up winning by more than a TD.

First time we have a rookie QB and RB on the field since Staubach and Calvin Hill. Boy, does that bring back memories when I heard that. Lets hope Prescott and Elliot have the same success.

I can't wait to see Elliott. I think if he can get past the line the Giants secondary is going to have a rough day. The Giants LB's are suspect. Witten should also have a big day.

Oh yea, and the screen play is going to be huge. Use the Giants aggressiveness against them. Run a couple screens to Free's side.

Spot on with the Giants O-Line. My buddies on the East Coast have pointed out throughout the preseason that the Giants O-line has been terrible. Here's hoping Coach Marinelli plans on blitzing a little more than he would like with these guys. We HAVE to make Eli uncomfortable.

I want to see how they use both Elliott and Morris. This two-headed running game has a chance to be really good.

Also keep in mind that Dunbar is healthy and is expected to play. I know he's injury prone and will more than likely be injured again at some point but right now he's healthy. Might as well use him while you have him. He's actually perfect for this game when you think about it. The Giants defense is weakest in the middle. Their LB's are suspect in coverage. That's why I expect Witten to have a big game. But if they send Zeke and Dunbar out going across the middle I think they would KILL the Giants. That would also might slow down the rush.

Cowboys should be more than fine in this game as long as we don't turn the ball over and have too many penalties.

Did anyone mention Doug Free before the game started? Plus too many field goals.

He made Free look like a damn rookie just starting out his career in his first start.

Outside of Doug Free, a couple dumb ass penalties that extended a giants drive they scored on, a missed extra point and too many field goals, we are just 2 points away from being undefeated and not having to hear how over rated the Egals are. We all know what happened to the other dream teams they have put together the last 5 years.
