Romo to the Jets?

Post#1 » by Mr B » Thu Oct 6, 2016 5:50 pm

Apparently NY media is talking about how the Jets should definitely be interested in trading for Romo if he's made available. They're aware that Jerry isn't just going to give him away though. If the Jets were to offer up a 1st and a 3rd would you do it?

I read that this morning and got a good laugh. Love that crazy New York media.

And - if they were silly enough to offer a 1 and a 3, I would jump completely all over that one! The only thing I haven't quite figured out yet is how his contract would be restructured to help us with the salary cap. Because I am certain we would be liable for his bonus.

I would trade romo to the Jets in a heart beat for a great draft choice. Jets are going no where and we need defensive help. Great opportunity for us to get 2 first round draft choices next year for a defense in desperate need.

That's my thinking. Romo would have to agree to rework his contract to make this happen. Getting a premium pick or two would go a LONG WAY towards helping to rebuild the defense.

If the Jets were dumb enough to do this... it would damn near make up for the Roy WIlliams trade with Detroit.

If they view themselves as being in the same situation as the Vikings I think it would actually be a good trade for them. They have a defense that's good enough to go deep in the playoffs and they have some pretty good weapons on offense.

The only problem I see is this... I just don;t think Tony can make it through 16 games. I didn't think so going into this season and I'm even more convinced now. And let's face it - no one is confusing the Jets offensive line with ours.

That's a fair point. Romo's health is a huge question mark. Other than Jerry being too loyal to Romo, his health is a main reason he isn't going anywhere. He's not going to be healthy enough to pass a physical before the trade deadline.

The Jets aren't the only team I could see Romo going to if this situation came about.

The Cardinals are another team. I think if the chance to trade him came up though they would prefer to send him to the AFC.

As long as he goes to a team expected to do lousy so we can have a high draft pick.

No way I'd trade Romo. Dak has looked good but that's partly the OL. Romo is a proven top notch qb. Sure he is injury prone and people like to blame him when things go bad, but this team would have been far worse since he's been there if they had an avg qb.

That's mostly due in part because of Jerry's wonderful draft picks and trades over the years. You must remember the draft picks we gave up for Roy Williams and the Joey Galloway trade for starters. The Quincy Cater pick set us back 5 years and a few years ago we were in such salary cap hell we couldn't rebuild or get any depth. I could go on a bit more here but I'm already getting upset reliving these horrible blunders.

Tried to pm you a couple days ago but for some reason it didn't go through despite 3 tries. I can answer pm's, but for some reason I can't send them on my own. :banghead:
