There is no way I can defend Elliott's effort.

Yea definitely not defending Zeke or making any kind of excuses. Giving up like that is unacceptable. I know Red won't do it but he really should bench Zeke for a game or at very least for a half.

It's not that Garrett wouldn't do it if he could... he can't. The owner is too busy pampering little Zeke.

Nice use of a 7th round pick. Really nice use.

From my understanding they get the pick back. He had to be on the team for a certain amount of time and if he got cut the Cowboys would get their 7th rounder back. At least that's the way I understood it.

Good catch. I feel better. This wasn't noted in the DMN article this morning.

Cowboys waive Jayrone Elliott, Packers will likely forfeit draft pick compensation

The timing of Elliott’s release and the fact that he was not active for either of the Cowboys’ first two games means that the Packers will not receive the conditional seventh-round draft choice that they received from Dallas in exchange for Elliott. According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, the terms of that condition involved Elliott being active for two games in order for the draft pick to be tr

Once again we have to deal with the puppet master handcuffing the coach.

Dude Garrett is horrible. If he wasn't Jerry's boy he would have been gone a long time ago.

I like what you said a few weeks ago. Burn his ass out and when his contract is up, trade his ass and draft someone else. And if I could, and I'm just talking me, I rip up Dez's contract and send his ass out the door. Don't see any trade deal working out for us down the road for him anyways. But I know we can't, so this frustration will go on for me for another year. Always wanted to trade or get rid of Dez since the ESPN forum boards days.

I'm still on board with running his ass into the ground and getting everything you can out of him. There is no reason he shouldn't be near 400 carries for the season. I also think they seriously consider taking a RB within the first 3 rounds in the next draft.

As for Dez, if he doesn't get over 1,000 yards and close to 10-12 TD's this year his contract is going to be a serious issue. You can't pay a guy top 5 money and only get mediocre return.

I would go two TE, put Smith in at FB, tell the Cardinals "We are running the football down your damn throats"... and do it. 20-25 carries for Zeke... 10-15 for Alfred... pound it.

Completely agree. Separation or no - he has to compete for balls. Otherwise, go back to the formula that worked last season. Run game sets up play action pass to the open receiver. Whether that's Witten, Beasley, Switzer (?), Dez... whoever is open. If Dez can't get open, tough.

Redskins looked good.
Not sure what to make of Eagles and Giants game.

Probably the best game I've seen from them in 25 years. That defense looks awfully solid. Fast and flying. They're going to be a load come October 29. What impressed me just as much is they are willing to run the ball and stay with it. Perine and Thompson are a nice 1-2 punch and Kelley might not get his starting job back. If Cousins keeps the turnovers down...

Giants suck. They are a bad football team. I still think the Eagles are going to be good but they have some holes on both sides of the ball. At least we won't have to deal with Sproles (not gloating about an injury - just stating a fact). He always kills us.

I posted this in the general forum but it belongs here as well. Jourdan Lewis and Xavier Woods showed me things that make me believe the Cowboys knew what they were doing when they drafted them. Both had miscues you expect from rookie DB's but both also made plays that contributed to a win. Wish Awuzie could get healthy because I still think he'll be the best of the bunch but overall, I can't be too displeased with their progress. We're going to have to live with those growing pains but it "looks" like we have some guys that can play.

But - this team misses Barry Church.
