Week 2 vs Saints

Post#1 » by Micah Prescott » Mon Sep 16, 2024 2:21 pm

I mean, does anyone even want to talk about this suck fest?

What were the positives here? Not many that's for sure. Schoon had 6 catches so I guess he is decent in the absence of Ferg. And yeah, that's all I can think of. Literally everyone else sucked. It actually was very reminiscent of the Green Bay playoff game where the defense couldn't stop a damn thing and then Dak is out there forcing throws that end up INTs.

The only thing I can say is that I do think NO is actually a great team, will for sure be in the playoffs. But I don't think that helps us knowing that we can't beat great teams. Oh well, none of us thought we were taking a step forward this season.

I’m damn sure reassessing the Saints… and the Cardinals might be worth it as well. But you’re right - losing the way Dallas lost yesterday after losing in a similar manner back in January doesn’t leave me with any level of “comfort”.

And now we get a Baltimore team looking for anything that gets their season moving in the right direction.

Lower expectations.

Too many new players lacking experience playing key roles.

Things change over time, maybe the Cowboys get better as the season progresses, so just enjoy the ride.

Zero expectations now.Had some after cleveland.Teams are licking their chops since GB.There is a known way to beat us,and we cant stop it.
We are an easy team to play against. We cant stop the run,and we cant run.We will trail in games a lot this season, and Dak,and co aint good enough to comeback on a regular basis. The one good thing is Diggs/Bland so teams will just run the ball more to avoid having to throw.I,ll enjoy the show after losses by reactions from Dak, Jerry, media etc but thats it.Nothing adds up to wins with this team like it has before.
We will be lucky if Baltimore doesn,t kick our ass because they are a good team who is desperate. If we cant run for over 100 yards regularly.how do we expect to beat any decent team.Lamb, and Cooks aint enough to sustain us.We need another option/s
I see Lamar going off on us.

That’s my worry this week… the Rat Birds have problems but he’s not one of them. And the Cowboys clearly have run defense issues.

I also expect Dallas to lose to Baltimore. But that said in the schedule thread I predicted us to start the season at 4-4 and then after that win most games. The bottom half of the schedule is pretty weak. Looks even weaker now that Philly doesn't look too scary.

IDK, I still think this season will mimic the las two where we get into the playoffs and then lose right away.

For the first 7 games I had the Cowboys going 2-5. I see no reason to move off that. Can’t stop the run and can’t run the ball. That’s a recipe for absolute disaster. This reeks of the season the before the Cowboys traded for Amari Cooper, although I don’t expect them to trade for a RB this time.

We'll definitely beat the Giants week 4, and then probably split the Steelers/Lions after. Winning one and losing the other. Then probably lose to the 49ers unless they are still missing McCaffery. 3-4 at that point. Beating the Falcons takes us to 4-4 after.

I guess we could lose to the Falcons putting us at 3-5. Doubt we are 2-5 after 7 though.

How did the Ravens lose to the Raiders though? I guess I need to watch the highlights of that game.

I just got done watching the Cowboy game for the second time. This time in full. Can someone please tell or explain to me why Zimmer only played Overshown 18 snaps in the whole game?

I was hoping Zimmer was smarter than Dan Quinn but I am starting to have doubts early. Looks like Zimmer was committed to playing Liufau on running downs and mostly used Overshown on 3ird down and passing downs. That obviously didn't work. And where in the hell did they get that Jordan Phillips guys from? He is putrid.

After two weeks, Cowboys Defensive Tackle ratings (out of the top 125);

Osa Odighizuwa - 119th
Linval Joseph - T-117th
Jordan Phillips - 124th
Mazi Smith - 123rd

So there’s that.

Yeah, that's not great. PFF has not been kind to Mazi either. He has a grade of 28.9 on the season. Which I didn't think was even possible from a grading scale. Yikes.

How is the O-Line holding up? I've only seen bits of each game.

They’ve been OK. The rookies aren’t embarrassing themselves a bit. Hard to say how well their run blocking is considering the RB’s ownership has saddled the team with. But Dak is getting enough time so that part seems OK.

It has to be the scheme & poor technique with that many guys underperforming. New Orleans saw something on film. Which falls back on coaching.

The Saints OC is from the Shanahan tree. It's a tough scheme to stop. A lot of teams aren't prepared for it early on in the season. We saw how badly the Jets struggled in week one. Philly had the same issues with Atlanta.
