Tank Johnson on the Cowboys radar?
Dallas Morning news. With Jason Ferguson out for the season, the rumor is that they are considering Tank Johnson, who's suspended the first 8 games of the season anyhow.

pay a guy for 15 games and he can only play in 7
and while he is sspended he can't have contact with the team nor use its facilities...
His salary would be prorated (i may have the wrong word here) so we wouldnt have to pay for all the games just the ones when his suspension ends.

^ You know, that's very true. You're right, it is more logical for him to have to serve his suspension while he is "in" the NFL.
I made a similar comment to people about the Vick suspension. That whatever the NFL deems the suspension to be for his involvement, etc. should only be effective while he is not in prison.
For example: Looks like he will be sentenced late this year, say, Thanksgiving time. Say he is in prison for 12 months. gets out next Nov. The NFL gives him a one year suspension. When does that take effect? The months he is not in prison this year? Do those count towards his suspension? You can't count the months he's in prison towards his suspenions months for sure, right?
But a situation like Tank's is different. In this case, I think Tank had a job and a contract. Once he was suspended, then he was cut. I'm thinking if the suspension would start once he has a contract, nobody will want to pick him up knowing he will sit for 8 games.
So, these 8 games start last week. After week 8, he can contact people. It makes sense. Otherwise, teams wouldn't call him and his "suspenion" would effectively be al ot longer.

It's been awhile since I've been in Texas, but I don't remember gun possession being that big of a concern in Texas. If Tank Johnson has kept his nose clean enough to get reinstated then he may be a good signing in a few weeks. If nothing else he'd be worth bringing in for a physical to see if he's stayed in game shape.
