1/2 season grades

QB - A - Romo could have protected the ball better, but hard to complain about a 7-1 record
RB - B+ Slow starts by Juluis is countered by battering ram barber
WR - A - TO has had some slow games but stepped up when needed. Witten having best year. Crayton and Hurd have been good in Glenn's spot.
O- LINE - A+ - Protected Romo and opened holes while beating the opponents the entire game
D- Line - B Spears is no where to be seen. NGs are fairly spare, and canty has been OK.
Linebackers - A+ - Could have more sacks, but are the stars of this defense
DBs - B - Area of concern for the future with injuries, and Reeves and Jones should not be on the field. When Williams is not seeking highlight hits he is alright.
P - A+++ - Love McBrier. He may be best punter in team history
K - A Foulk has been great.
Coaching - A - Have adapted to tight team and let them be themselves. Record says it all

I know you said OK so its not really ragging on him, but the past few days ive noticed people disappointed in Canty and I cant figure out why. Maybe a few weeks ago it would have made sense, but with that blocked field goal against the vikings and the good pressure against the eagles (especially that one play he made) I dont get it. He is huge and so maybe people are looking for more stats from him but he really isnt doing anything bad to get pointed out so much.

Recievers- Id love to give them an A too but Crayton has been pretty disappointing. I know he had the finger injury but even so i havent seen enough from him. Hurd has had some great blocks but otherwise has been pretty quiet. I do think he has the potential to be pretty good though. Maybe even to be a solid number 2. I think hes learning alot from TO, and no thats not a bad thing. TO has actually shown some leadership as hard as that might be to believe.
As far as just his own play goes Mr Popcorn has been pretty damn good this year. Last year he got unfairly criticized due to his drops. Yes they were bad and he led the league, but he had a torn freakin ligament in his hand he chose to play through to try and help the team at the risk of longterm damage due to not getting surgery right away. Never mind the fact he also led the league in TDs last year too.
Ive always been impressed by Witten but somehow he impresses me more every week. The play this week was spectacular. Had it not been for his having to block most of the time for the first half of last season (Statue Bledsoe) im sure he would have already gotten the respect hes getting this year. I say that based on what he did the year before that, what he did with Romo last year, and then obviously this year.
Isnt Folk the first kicker Jerry used a draft pick on? Well that was a good decision for sure. I know some were upset that we passed on Crosby for him but they arent now. Crosby has been solid but probably about equal to Folk.
Remember the criticism about the "wasted" money on Leonard Davis?

Its a little early to tell but there are some parallels to the Triplets days here,

A special quarterback (And honestly its hard to say (considering what Aikman did) but Romo could be a lot better than Aikman from the things hes shown) If only we are that lucky

A big back thats a bruising touchdown machine. Granted Emmitt was more than just that but even just getting one aspect of what he brought is great. Obviously Marion is no where close to his level but really, who thinks we can get a guy like him again without a high draft pick? (and even then its not close to a given considering how great he was).

A playmaking receiver that can take any CB to school. Along with pretty much nothing alongside him at WR so far. Its kind of scary when you think about how similar the situation is.

A TE that is one of the best in the league and can both block (when needed) and make the catches. Probably our first real tight end since Novacek.

A big Oline that bullys the Dline.

A linebacking core that can make big plays. Only fitting that Warewolf wears that number 94 jersey.
