ESPN - Sources told ESPN's Ed Werder that Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has been offered the Baltimore Ravens coaching position.

Garrett has not made a decision yet.

The Ravens are seeking a successor for Brian Billick, who was fired after the regular season.

Garrett, who arrived at the Ravens' training complex for the second interview on Tuesday morning, was the first candidate to have call-back sessions with the Ravens and Falcons. [READ]

Bad news is he is off to atl for second interview.

The Falcons lost one head coach candidate on Thursday.

ESPN reported that Jason Garrett will remain with Dallas as the team's offensive coordinator. Garrett left Atlanta Wednesday after having a second interview with the Falcons and was said to be considering his options. He also was a candidate for the head coach job in Baltimore.

The move would leave former Baltimore defensive coordinator Rex Ryan as the only other head coach candidate to have had a second interview with the Falcons, which included a first meeting with new general manager Thomas Dimitroff. That interview took place Tuesday.

The team had not scheduled anyone else for a second interview. Indianapolis assistant head coach Jim Caldwell reportedly has withdrawn his name as a candidate for the Falcons' job.

Ryan could be the favorite to be the Falcons' hire, however Dimitroff has said he will not rush the process. There may be other candidates the Falcons would like to interview. They were denied permission to speak to New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo this month. The Giants play in the NFC Championship Game this weekend. The Falcons could try again to interview Spagnuolo once the Giants season is over.

I'm happy for Jason and glad he's staying with Dallas. Glad to see he gain some interest and most of all it shows how respected he is around the league.

He will be the head coach starting 2010. The hope is that he learns to manage people and not systems in the mean time.

I didnt think there was any way hed leave. Even if it meant removing Phillips (or somehow unofficially lowering him to DC) and putting Garrett as HC. Clearly it makes more sense to keep a guy around thats only 41, has been around the team for like 8 of the past 14 years (his playing days and then coming back as coach), whose dad was with the organization for a long time, and whose brother is the TE coach (and just look at that TE group. Sure theyre talented but he even got good things from Tony Curtis)

As opposed to a 60 year old guy thats 0-4 in the playoffs (Though i dont put much into that considering some of the circumstances, some people do so i mentioned it) and the team doesnt have a lot invested in. Whereas with Garrett leaving, Romo would have to learn a new system.
