It does not balance out because inherently character is not something that can be balanced out... much too abstract.
That said, I do disagree to a certain extent. I think there are two things to look at in regard to character for this team.
1) I think Jerry Jones works very hard to create an atmosphere where the players believe in the organization and themselves. There is a sense of accountability, where the players feel a sense of gratitude for both the opportunity the Cowboys give them as well as how they are treated within the organization
