Witten Claims He Didn

Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has addressed the controversy that unfolded during the 2008 season, and that ultimately resulted in last month’s release of receiver Terrell Owens.
Witten denies that he wanted Owens out, and Witten isn’t happy with the suggestion that he and quarterback Tony Romo were caught up in the T.O. drama.
“To get perceived to be in the middle of that, that bothers you,” Witten said. “For people to think we’re caught up in that, absolutely not. For anybody, you can’t win in this league doing that kind of stuff.”
Witten also didn’t want to address the question of whether Owens’ departure improves the team.
“I don’t want to look at it and say we are a better locker room,” Witten said. “We’ve got a lot of good football players. I do think that. We’ve got to go show it. We’ve got to stop talking about it.”
