Grossman the starter

Post#1 » by Scabs304 » Mon Sep 5, 2011 6:51 pm

Good or bad we have Sexy Rexy as are starter. I don't think it matters either way. Neither is a top of the line NFL starter. I really thought Beck was less likely to throw picks and had a stronger arm, but he looked horrible in the last preseason game and with him playing so much in the final game was pretty sure he wasn't going to be the starter. Where does this leave the offense?

I imagine Grossman is on a short leash. The moment he throws 2 picks in a game, he's probably going to get benched.

Grossman isn't as bad as he's often made out to be. That's not the same thing as "good" though. He's thoroughly average. I was listening to folks talk 11-5, 10-6 on 980, and I think they're underrating the QB factor. You can pretty much pick which teams will be in the playoffs by looking at the QB. The Skins will have to be outstanding in every facet to be a playoff team with Grossman.

That said, I don't think there's much reason to think Beck will be any better.

Shanahan has done this in the past. Jake Plummer was not nearly as good in Arizona as Grossman has been. Yet Shanahan was able to salvage a few years out of him.

It's all about the running game. Can Shanahan duplicate the dominant Denver rush offense in the NFC East?
