Upcoming pitching matchups

Post#1 » by treyZz » Wed Jun 27, 2007 3:15 am

Wednesday, June 27 -

Carlos Zambrano, RHP (8-6, 4.27) vs Jason Hirsh, RHP (3-6, 5.06)

Friday, June 29 -

Yovani Gallardo, RHP (1-0, 2.70) vs Rich Hill, LHP (5-5, 3.13)

Saturday, June 30 -

Ben Sheets, RHP (9-3, 3.09) vs Sean Marshall, LHP (4-2, 2.44)

I like the first 2 matchups.. Sheets will be tough.

Hopefully we can pull off the sweep against the Rockies & win 2 of the 3 against the Brewers.

Rich Hill vs Gallardo will be awesome IMO.

I'm worried that Milwaukee will run us over but they will not scare me when we actually play them. I actually like the Marshall/Sheets matchup more. That will be a pitchers duel.

I'm interested in seeing Gallardo. Heard great things about him...

Right now the Brewers have Dave Bush going on Friday, Gallardo on Saturday and Sheets on Sunday.

Due to an off day on Thursday it's possible they skip Bush and go with Gallardo Friday. But Bush has won his last 3 starts and gave up 1 run in 7 innings his last time out so they may not skip him.

Should be a good weekend series. It's about time the Brewers/Cubs play a series that actually means something.

Sheets VS Marquis on Sunday is not good for us.
Sheets owns us.
I was at the game in Milwaukee a few years back when he faced Matt Clement and he shut us out and struck out like 15 batters. .
The Brewers ended up winning 1-0 thanks to a lead-off homer I think by Counsell.

Marquis needs to pitch in Canada or something where its always cold... cause when the weather gets warm, the balls start flying out... I hope I'm wrong this weekend though w/ Prince Fielder and JJ Hardy coming in town

Bush pitched 2 innings of relief today, I would suspect he gets skipped and Sheets pitches Friday, Gallardo Saturday, Vargas Sunday.

Yes I just heard that too. Right now we have too many starters, a good problem I guess but screwing around with the rotation is not something you want to do too much.
