Re: 2011 Offseason Thread (Training Camp Included)
I wonder if the offseason didn't sour people on football or if everyone just expects that the Skins will just suck this year so there is no interest. There is no one posting in the Redskins thread at the Wizards forum and hardly anyone posting here.

Re: 2011 Offseason Thread (Training Camp Included)
I mean, the lockout lasted a little over 3 months. Me personally, it was hard for me to discuss football not knowing if there were games that were going to be missed, half a season, etc. Now that it's back, we can talk about it again. I doubt the interested waned, everything was just in wait mode you know?

Re: 2011 Offseason Thread (Training Camp Included)
The Bengals owner is driving me crazy. McNabb & Haynewsorth for Carson Palmer makes incredible sense for both sides (Haynesworth would fit right in w/the Bengals) and Mcnabb would be a good mentor to the first round pick.

Re: 2011 Offseason Thread (Training Camp Included)
The Washington Redskins have re-signed leading receiver Santana Moss to a three-year, $15 million deal, according to ESPN.
<snip>
Now the question is if Moss will remain Washington’s top receiving threat. The team also reportedly has interest in signing Santonio Holmes away from the Jets.

Re: 2011 Offseason Thread (Training Camp Included)
The Minnesota Vikings are one of a few teams that have had trade discussions with the Washington Redskins about quarterback Donovan McNabb, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/68043 ... LHeadlines
With Tavaris Jackson headed to Seattle, Minny desperately needs a QB IMO. If McNabb is willing to re-work his deal even a little bit, I think there's a good chance for a deal.

I would be surprised if we got more than a 5th round pick for Chunky Soup, but we'll see.
Love that Moss deal. True Redskin right there.

I like the deal. Definitly a number 2 receiver type of deal. Now we need to get a good coplimentary receiver next to him. If we can't get the big names in Holmes or Rice I wouldn't mind us taking a flyer on Plax. We need to steer away from B Edwards

Re: 2011 Offseason Thread (Training Camp Included)
Skins have a deal in place to trade McNabb to the Vikings for a 6th round pick in 2012 and a conditional pick in 2013.
Skins also agree to terms with Barry Cofield on a 6 year deal worth $36 million, $12 million in guaranteed money.
Signed Donte Stallworth to a 1 year deal. Most likely a special teams guy or camp fodder.
Signed QB Kellen Clemens to a 1 year deal.

Re: 2011 Offseason Thread (Training Camp Included)
Gotta say im pretty disappointed with how things have gone so far. We traded McNabb and Haynesworth who were huge investments for basically nothing. Nothing we could really do about it now its just horrible how those things have turned out. And I like some of the receivers we've signed but theyre all over 30.. the team was already an old group and now that continues. The offense will need to be blown up very soon (next offseason). I mean im loyal skins fan but theres very few things/players to look forward to right now.

It's hard to keep up with the moves, biggest move on the day was signing defensive end Stephen Bowen. Played for the Cowboys, only started 11 games in 5 years.

Love the trades, love the DL signings, and there's still a nice chunk of money to spend. Let's see who gets released and go from there.

Re: 2011 Offseason Thread (Training Camp Included)
The Washington Redskins have made their first free agent addition to their offensive line, signing guard Chris Chester away from the Baltimore Ravens, according to his agent Craig Domann.
Chester's contract is worth $20 million over five years. The move meets a pressing need for Washington, who Thursday morning released center Casey Rabach, and the plan is for Kory Lichtensteiger and Will Montgomery, who ended the year as the starting guards, to compete for the starting center job.

Re: 2011 Offseason Thread (Training Camp, Signings, etc...)
^ Nice to have Brown back in the fold. Looks like we have our starting line in place now:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/foo ... _blog.html
Now the question is who will be running behind that line? Well, there's a new face to add to that discussion:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/foo ... _blog.html
The Redskins' starting unit projects to feature Williams at left tackle, Kory Lichtensteiger at left guard, Will Montgomery at center, Chester at right guard and Brown at right tackle.

Now the question is who will be running behind that line? Well, there's a new face to add to that discussion:
Meanwhile, the team announced that it has acquired running back Tim Hightower from the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for veteran defensive end Vonnie Holliday and an undisclosed draft pick. The pick will be a conditional late-round pick that will be determined by Hightower's playing time, according to ESPN.

The Holliday- Hightower trade is up in the air at the moment.
Apparently, Vonnie is considering retirement.

Re: 2011 Offseason Thread (Training Camp, Signings, etc...)
So by the looks of it, Williams will start at left tackle, Chester at left guard, Brown at right tackle, so who is our right guard and center?

^ I think Lichtenstiger is the other guard and Montgomery will play center.

Re: 2011 Offseason Thread (Training Camp, Signings, etc...)
Well, the Beck injury means Grossman probably starts in the first preseason game. Thom Loverro had a great line on 980:
"The best thing that can happen to the legend of John Beck is that he doesn't play."
He's right. The longer I have to wait to see him play, the more I want to see him play. It's crazy!

Re: 2011 Offseason Thread (Training Camp, Signings, etc...)
Hopefully Beck plays tonight. I'd like to see Shanny go with the first team offense for 2 series, one with Grossman and the other with Beck and go from there. Will be at the game tonight, so it should be interesting.
