Mike Lombardi of NFL.com really likes the Morgan signing. He says a lot of teams wanted him as an under the radar talent, and he thinks he has star potential.

I'm hearing from multiple sources that the #Redskins have agreed to terms with FA-WR Eddie Royal.

Skins have - in 1 day - completely revamped their WR core. I'm assuming Santana Moss and Jabar Gaffney are as good as gone. I'll miss Moss - I liked his attitude. But it's the smart thing to do, imo. Royal is better and much younger.

3 WRs in one day, really making sure RG3 has people to throw to.
I wonder if this means Gaffney is certainly gone though? He had a solid season (actually his career best in terms of yards) last year I thought.

With the 3 new receivers and Davis and Hankerson and Helu and obviously rg3 our O suddenly looks really young and even if we suck for a few years it'll be exciting to watch. Now if we could do something about the right side of the line.

Gaffney, Banks and Moss are probably all gone.

Apparently the actual guaranteed money for Garcon is $13.1 million.

I'm going to bed, but I was reading a few minutes ago, it seems like the Wilson's contract can be voided after 2 years, Carriker's deal could be voided after 1 year, and Garcon has a $2.5 million base salary this year.

So yeah...the league took half their cap space, but they're still working the system. It's genius, they still have room to sign Fletcher, and maybe a safety and o-lineman.

Still need offensive line, safety and cornerback.

I think Eddie Royal was signed as much for punt returns as his receiving.

They have roughly $10 million left to play with this year, but they could cut guys like Beck and Moss and save another $4 million or so.

Is the 10 mil before signing Royal? I think those 2 are as good as gone, and I assume if they can save a nice chunk by cutting Cooley - he's gone, too.

Same old Skins if you ask me. Top dollar for average talent. Garcon is the second highest paid receiver in the division and by my count he's the 7th or 8th best receiver depending on whether Laurent Robinson resigns. In no particular order: Hicks, Cruz, Bryant, Austin, Maclin, and Jackson are all clearly better than Garcon AND they're all young.

Morgan is blah to me. There is no possible way to argue that he's better than Jabar Gaffney. None.

This reeks of 2006. Remember when the Skins gorssly over-paid for 'young wr's entering their prime..ready to breakout'? I don't see how this is any different.

Also, not a fan of the Carriker signing. Every advanced scout reports he's weak against the run and he rarely generates a pass rush.

They haven't officially signed Royal, so it's before his signing. If they really needed the money they could cut Beck ($1.3 mil), Moss ($1.4 mil), Hall ($6 mil) and Cooley ($2 mil).

I would think Trent and Hall are candidates for restructuring. Williams' salary this year would be around $12 million.

I was also a bit disappointed about the Carriker contract. A month or so ago, there was a report that the Skins thought Cofield should be switched off of nose tackle - and he'd be more effective in the 34 as a DE. My assumption was they'd let Carriker go and go after a nose tackle. My view on Cofield is - he's an outstanding 43 DT, and he's just ok in the 34.

I'll touch on what no D said tomorrow, just gonna update this for the night. Looks like Eddie Royal has left the area without a contract and is visiting the Chargers.

Brandon Merriweather was in for a visit today.

Aaron Ross is scheduled to come in on Friday.

Cedric Griffin signed to a 1 year deal worth a max of $2.5 million.

They also re-structured Will Montgomery's contract giving the team an extra $2 million to play with.

Definitely like the additions in the secondary. to Landry.

I understand bringing Grossman back, but I still would have preferred them go in a different direction. Yes, he knows the system. But I'm scared to death that they won't be able to resist the urge to put him in there if RG3 struggles.

I have the same fear. I wonder if Stanton might not be a bad option for a back-up QB.

I don't see him being any more than a back-up QB, but I think he has more potential of playing decently than Grossman.

Thing is does Drew know the system? If he doesn't, he'd be Rex's backup and inactive on most Sundays.

I won't miss Landry either, but the secondary looks really shakey. I think Merriweather was cut twice last season. NE cut him even though their secondary stunk. It seems like the Skins always need a free safety - someone who can cover somewhat adequately. I don't think Merriweather fits that description. I'm hoping Griffin can make the move from CB to FS. And we're still very mediocre at the CB's. The Skins are really going to have to have a good pass rush this season - or their DB's are going to get abused.

^ Valid concerns, Ruz. IMO their entire draft after RG3 should be OL and DB.
