Okay we already have what should the Skins do in this draft thread, but I want to know if they stay at 6 who should they draft?

1. Gaines Adams
2. LaRon Landry
3. Amobi Okoye
4. Jamal Anderson
5. Alan Branch

in the crazy scenerio, if Calvin Johnson is there, you draft him over any defensive player available.

Go D-tackle unless Okoye is gone. Okoye probably won't pay dividends for a year or two but at 19 he's just sick.

Best Player Available.

I'd pick Jamal Anderson - great pass rusher, great size (unlike Adams). But he apparently needs technique work, and some think he'll slide in the draft.

I really like Gaines Adams. I believe he is going to drop that far to so IMO he is the best defensive player available in this draft.

Anderson has one good season of college football and has limited experience at DE. Hes not even that great of an athletic guy like Julius Peppers or Mario Williams. It could be said that Anderson might have had a fluke year because college teams had no tape on him to gameplan for. Thats why one year wonders and athletic freaks from college are risky picks.

Gaines Adams had a good breakout year in 2005 season. Teams got tape on him and he came back in 2006 and dominated even more.

Proven guy, great technique and good work ethic. Hes a safer pick than Anderson and Okoye if we decide to stay at #6.

At 6, you don't just go safe. You go for greatness. And Anderson has the higher upside and produced more last year. He's 6'6" 280 vs. Gaines 6'5" 260, and he runs just as fast. He out-sacked him 13.5 to 12.5; he got more tackles for losses 19.5 to 175; and they each had 26 QB presures and 6 deflected passes.

It's a no lose situation. I'm very hesitant on the Redskins trading down, because while trading down is a good thing, I don't trust management will make the right pick.

Yeah but Anderson has only done this for one year. I'm vary of guys who have one great season of college and then decide to come out.

Look at the DE from Georgia, Quentin Moses. He had a great 2005 campaign but this year when teams started doubling him and focusing on him, he sucked.

Not saying that Anderson will face the same fate, but I'd take production over potential. Adams has proven he can be great while being the focus of the gameplan, Anderson hasn't. He doesn't even have a lot of experience at DE, he came into Arkansas as a WR and made a position change.

Nah, no QB, unless they pick one in the later rounds. Based on need, take the best player available. Our needs are obviously in the defensive line/secondary/offensive line.

The latest mock I saw (either CBS or Fox) had Adams going to Detroit. If that does happen I'm not sure there's anybody else at #6 who would excite me. I'd look to trade the pick at that point.

If Gaines Adams is gone at #6, we should trade down and take a look at either Adam Carriker or Alan Branch. I'd prefer Branch because this draft is weak at DT but strong at DE. Many quality DE's are available but not many DT's. We can get a guy like Anthony Spencer, Charles, Johnson, Quentin Moses or Jarvis Moss in the 2nd or maybe even 3rd.

Hmph...if Adams goes 2nd overall and Russell goes 1st, could the Browns take Quinn over Peterson? If they do, that would mean Tampa takes Johnson...Cardinals get their guy in Thomas...and Peterson falls to us. If that happens, we could try and trade the pick. A team like Green Bay needs a running back, so does Houston, Buffalo, etc. Best case scenario.

So yah if Adams isn't there I really don't have anyone else that I want at number 6. I still think the Skins will trade down even if Adams is there, but this is if you had to pick at 6 who would you take thread so yah I'll take Adams and if he is gone I'll stomp around the war room and pout like a baby.

we are in a great spot where someone many teams covet will fall to us... we'll really be in the driver's seat regarding trades

I have Anderson going there, but I keep hearing how much Dan Snyder loves Ted Ginn Jr.

Leon Hall isn't out of the equation either. More reason to do whatever it takes to trade down. Anyone at #6 is no better than anyone who will be there at #15.

Ginn? That would be a completely random selection. Ginn, at best would probably be a special teams guy, and we have that in Randle-El.

I'm all for trading down, but it all depends on who the Skins choose as their pick. I don't have that much confidence that management would make the right choice.
