***BREAKING NEWS- Pavano and Mussina on the DL

Post#1 » by theknicks414 » Sun Apr 15, 2007 7:12 pm

Mike Mussina (left hamstring) and Carl Pavano (right forearm) were placed on the disabled list.

RHP Chris Britton arrived this morning. The team will play a man short today. The team has not decided who will start on Tuesday but Class AA LHP Chase Wright is on the 40-man roster and lined up.

Mussina threw seven easy pitches off the mound before feeling pain in his leg. Pavano warmed up but never got on the mound.

Clippard? Hughes? Are they ready yet? We need someone for Tuesday. Igawa can't go up that early. Is Karstens ready? I am not comfortable going with Chase Wright straight from AA. -Jitpal

We needed Clemens before Wang went down early in Spring Training. We needed him then and we need him now. -Jitpal

Looks like it'll be Chase Wright. Hopefully, he performs well.

Chase Wright's only in AA, but AA and AAA are more or less the same. AAA is just more journeymen.

But damn, Pavs was doing good too. Moose, eh...

Chase Wright was amongst the most impressive invited to Spring Training. His call-up is a result of that as well as his stellar AA performance to begin the year and his position on the 40-man roster.

Wright throws a 2 seam fastball that typically runs 87-90. He used to throw a bit harder and can, from time to time, get his fastball into the low 90s. However, things seem to turn out better for him when he
