I think this has to be a statement game for the Redskins. Players like Clinton Portis and Jason Campbell MUST have huge games. It'll be tough for Clinton because Miami has a very nice defense. The offensive line must open a few holds for him, and he must make people miss after that.
Jason Campbell will have to lead the team on touchdown drives. He, and the Redskins must be finishers on offense. That means they must have sustained drives that end with touchdowns and not field goals. I'm figuring 3 TD's will get the job done, and tack on a field goal to boot.
The defense MUST, for the most part pitch a shut-out. Why? Because there's so much hype around them and the way they have played this preseason compared to the egg they laid a season ago. They have to prove that they are back and last season was a fluke. Miami has a very poor offense, so anything over 10pts scored against them will be a disappointment. They failed to force a lot of turnovers last season. This is the perfect game for an eager rookie safety to start his push for Defensive Rookie Of The Year.
REDSKINS 24 DOLPHINS 10

Portis 19 for 79yds, 1 TD
Campbell 18 for 26, 266yds 2 TDs
Moss 5 for 76yds
Randle El 3 for 29yds
Cooley 6 for 83yds 1 TD
Llyod 2 for 58yds 1 TD

I don't think this is a statement game. Miami will struggle against our defense. I love there defense but I think our offense has just enough to take it down the field and probably get a score and some FG's.

The statement game will be against Philly on Monday Night. Thats when we show the NFL world that we're for real.

If we come out flat and barely beat Miami, or worse yet, LOSE, then there's no hype for the Philly game. That's why I call it a statement game. If we can come out and dominate, Jason Campbell completing passes, throwing the long ball.....no turnovers.....offensive line keeps one of the best defenses off the QB and open some holes for Portis/Betts......defense cause a turnover or two......get a few sacks, and the team wins by double digits....then there's some hype for Philly. That's why I say "statement game".

Skins will win by 21+. I just don't see the Dolphins offense or defense as much of a threat.

Their defense is just as good as ours, but our offense is significantly better. This is going to be one of those low scoring, defensive struggle type of games. Going with 17-3 Redskins.

How about throwing in a punt return by Randle El for a 24-3 final?
Miami should be doing a lot of punting.

This game is going to represent the rest of the season. Can the Skins beat bad teams? If we can beat bad teams, we're gonna have a good year. If we lose to Miami, at Fed Ex...it's gonna be a long, long season.

Oh definetly. I guess it depends on our perception of a statement game but I agree with you.

A convincing win over the Dolpins will make the Philly game all that more interesting.

If we beat Philly on MNF, then I truly think this team is going to be something special this year.

You are going to lose to Miami in an impressive way too.
Forget that Ronnie Brown is a beast?
Forget that Trent Green is a proven QB?
49-0 Miami

Forget you have no offensive line? Forget Trent Green is 38 years old? Forget you have no receivers?

Ronnie Brown sucks.
Trent Green should be living on pension.
Your best offensive lineman would make our practice squad.
Your TE wouldn't even make our roster and your WR's have nothing that resemble hands.

Next.

Doubt it. No way he gets away from our linebackers. I also doubt he'll get the chance since Miami will probably be down early and have to pass.

And even if Brown is effective, Trent Green will be good for a couple picks so it really doesn't matter.

Skins 31
Dolphins 10

The last time Ronnie Brown ran over a defense, Paris Hilton was a virgin.

More like Elisha Cuthbert, and Brown will run well on Sunday against the Redskins. I'm not saying that is enough for them to win but I just don't think it's going to be the slaughter you guys are predicting.

BTW I can't wait so see how Jason Campbell performs :D . Maybe the 48 year old Mark Brunell can come in and make something happen. Then again there's always Todd Collins who went to MICHIGAN.
Need to just go ahead and start Randle El at QB.

Is the hobbling Portis ever going to make it through a game much less a season? Betts should be the guy all the way.
Fred Smoot comes back home to get burned again thats cool. I liked Shawn Springs back when he was at OSU.
Basically your defense sucks besides Sean Taylor and Laron Landry.
Your offensive line is your strength while our defensive line is our strength. Our linebackers are better while your pretty much equals ours.
Receivers I give the edge to you guys and do I give our O line, and our running game up to you as well.
BUT sad as this may seem we have you guys at QB. Trent Green is the better QB.

It'll take Miami at least 5 games to score 49pts, trust me!! Your offense may score more points for us than it will for you.

We're gonna eat there offensive line...it's gonna be nice to watch. Let's see how Trent Green does when his O Line is getting pooped on and he's under pressure all day. One hit from Landry or Taylor and he could get another cuncussion and be out for the season.

If he goes out for the season then John Beck will get to play so thats not a big deal. Washington's defensive line is so week. It will actually be a good matchup on Sunday. Either way I expect a low scoring game.

Very low for MIAMI......see, what a lot of "outsiders" like you and even the so-called experts don't realize is, last season was a fluke. Our defense is one of the best in the league. Our defensive coach is masterful, and he has the players needed, in place to rack-up one of the best season's in Redskins history. If we're not a top 5 defense, then I'll run through South Beach butt-naked waving a Miami Dolphins banner!!
That's how sure I am about what we have assembled this off-season. Laron Landry and London Fletcher to go with an "improved" Sean Taylor........whew!!......I can't wait!! I am sooooooooooo happy that Miami is our opening day opponent. All this game will do is boost our confidence. I expect a nice point total from my fantasy defense (WASHINGTON) this week.
