OK...since its getting late in the season, we might as well start talking standings and the like. I'll update this after every week, and will do the NFC and AFC standings.

NFC:

Great idea, Raf. Thanks for being one of the few keeping this forum alive.

Starting with the NFC, I think teams like the Skins and Tampa need to start looking at New Orleans in the rear view mirror. They are hotter'n heck and if they peak going into the playoffs they could pull of some upsets. I also keep waiting for Detroit to fall back but seems like they're for real...at least in the regular season.

The AFC standings are actually pretty surprising when you consider the names that are there - or perhaps more conspicuously NOT there. I keep forgetting that Tennesee keeps finding ways to win games and the Chargers better be happy their division reeks.

From here we need to beat the following teams:

Dallas once, Tampa Bay, Philly, Chicago, Minnisota and Buffalo. The team we have to beat is New York. We got to win that game.

We also need to hope that Green Bay wins its division so incase of a wild card tie breaker, we can have the edge over Detroit. If Detroit wins the division then we lose the tie breaker if it comes down to that. God damn you Santana Moss and Joe Gibbs.

We should be 7-1.

Said it once, say it again...starting with the Patriots game, we need to go 6-4 or 7-3 over our last 10 games. I had wins pegged against the Jets, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Buffalo, and Minnesota. Possible win against Chicago.

Basically, we need to steal at least 1 game from Dallas and the Giants and win the games we must win.

Raffy's list is extremely confusing. Who cares if they have 5th best record in the NFC right now? I'd list the teams in order of playoff seed.

At 5-3, the Skins probably need a repeat in the season's second stanza to have a shot for the playoffs. I don't see it happening. 3-5 seems more realistic for the rest of the year.

I updated it. 4 Division Winners, then the two wild card teams.

It sickens me to the see the Giants on that list, they played everyone at the perfect time: San Fran w/o Alex Smith, the Eagles w/o Westbrook, Atlanta w/o--well anyone really, Miami w/Ronnie Brown or Trent Green, etc. etc. They have reeled off 6 in a row, they are long over due to implode...

Our offense needs to step it up. We play so many one dimensional offensive teams from here on out:

Philly: could run the ball but Andy Reid loves to throw
Tampa Bay: down to third string RB, has to rely on Garthia
Buffalo: Running team with a weak passing attack
Chicago: completely inept on offense
Minny: running game is all they have but its beastly

These are five games we definetly have to win if we want a shot at the playoffs. Then for division title we need to squeek a win against Dallas and win in New York but I'm not sure even that will be enough or not.

Honestly I think we will lose in Tampa Bay and in Dallas but pull out rest of the wins.

It's this simple we have played are ourselves into conention at this point in time, but also as you can see out of the playoffs if it were to come down now. We need to start playing like a playoff team and put teams away when they give us the chance.

If San Fran wins Monday night that leaves St. Loius 3 games out of the playoffs. What happens if somehow after starting 0-8 they make the playoffs? I believe 7-9 might win that division.

Updated it. We should have won last week. Because if we did, we would have been 1 of the 2 teams currently in the wild card spot. This week, we definitely need to beat Dallas.

We also need New Orleans, Arizona, Carolina, Chicago and Philadelphia to lose just to stay a game ahead of these teams.

Week 12 scenarios:

Redskins needs to win @ Tampa Bay.
Green Bay needs to win @ Detroit
San Francisco needs to win @ Arizona.
New England needs to win vs. Philadelphia
Denver needs to win @ Chicago.

We own tiebreakers against Arizona and Detroit, but still, we must beat the Bucs, and then worry about everything else.

Well we are already 2 for 5 on the need to win check list (really think Philly is going to beat Pats with a banged up McNabb?)

Week 13 Scenarios:

Redskins need to beat Buffalo.
Minnesota needs to beat Detroit.
Seattle needs to beat Philadelphia.
Cleveland needs to beat Arizona.
NY Giants need to beat Chicago.

It's entirely possible by the end of Sunday, we could be the 2nd wild card team.

Detroit lost
Philly lost
Carolina lost
Arizona lost
Minnisota won

Saints may lose tommorow.

We control our own destiny and we can every game from here on out. Lets go Skins!!!

The Vikings game in a couple of weeks becomes extra important now.

The Skins - Vikings game has been moved to SNF. The implications are going to be huge as the winner might have a chance to lock themselves a playoff spot that night.

With the way tiebreaker rules are set up, its entirely possible that we might even end up as the 5th seed.

These are the remaining three games for the New York Giants:

vs. Washington
at Buffalo
vs. New England

With the way they have been playing over the past three weeks, its entirely possible that they can lose each of these games.

In this scenerio, if we manage to win out, we get the fifth wildcard spot and most likely matchup against the Buccaneers in the first round and if further, the Cowboys in the 2nd unless the sixth playoff team wins its game, then we face the Packers.

Well Redskins are almost in control of there own destiny. With the Saints winning last night it puts one team that owns a tie-breaker in front of us. Either way Skins will probally have to win out to make the playoffs and that starts against the Giants.
