The guy is inconsistent but can explode for a breathless 30 on the right night. That is on a lottery team without two all stars.

I really think if the team shows trust in him, he could flourish.

He's only played in the last two games, so not much to make an assessment but he has skill in maneuvering and running pick and rolls in tight spaces. In actual games though, he'll either have to make his open shots or make his living off of regular cuts to keep his defender honest to earn game time in a rather crowded backcourt rotation.

We should maybe just re-name this thread to the pre-season thread.

God was it nice to see Anthony Davis last night. His shooting stroke looked great, he drew FT's (something when he's not aggressive doesn't happen), and he moved around pretty well especially for a pre-season game. If this was a regular season game and he was on the offensive glass and played 34+ minutes, he probably would've had a 40-50 point night.

THAT Davis and THAT LeBron from last week in Vegas all re-confirms to me how stupid of a decision it was NOT to trade Russell Westbrook for pieces that enhance their games more. I know it'll happen at some point and hopefully because of the Wembenyana tank, maybe it'll lead to our benefit. There's a possibility Indiana goes, "Yeah - let's tank, we'll take the 1 1st rounder and give you Hield and Turner." Or Chicago gets off to a bad start and maybe we can get back DeRozan, Vucevic and Caruso for Westbrook, Nunn and 2 1sts. Or Charlotte wakes up and gives us Hayward, PJ Washington and Rozier for Walker, Westbrook and draft picks.

What about Miami? If they get off to a really bad start, does Jimmy Butler become available if we also take on Kyle Lowry or Duncan Robinson?

Washington? They're going to suck - does Brad Beal change his mind now that he's got his contract and demands that he's traded here? He has a no trade clause, he's got every leverage to do something like that.

By any means necessary, we have to find a way to get off Westbrook and make something of this season.

He's a fine player but we have a million guards. He'll have his explosive moments where the shots go in and he looks great but he'll have games where he misses shots, gets trampled on D, and barely plays. That's our MLE signing: Jordan Crawford. Not Jamal Crawford - Jordan.

Who plays for sure on this team?

- LeBron
- AD
- Nunn
- Beverley
- Russ
- Reaves

4/6 of those players are guards. During the regular season, we'll probably only have a 9-10 man rotation.

You need another wing player with size:

- JTA

One of the big men is most likely going to play at minimum:

- Bryant, Jones or Gabriel. (PS - I'd rank this Gabriel, Bryant, Jones. Jones has been bad)

If two end up playing, that's your 9 man rotation. Which means the 10th and final spot comes down to Schroder vs Walker.

And when Troy Brown Jr (a guy with size and shooting ability) comes back and gets his sea legs under him, that's another guy who will need to play basically just because he has what our two biggest weaknesses are: Shooting and size on the wing.

Walker was a total waste of a signing.

I would've never signed him, but I'm coming around to seeing a fit with him. I really like how he constantly talks about defense being his only priority. Does he have a history of playing defense? Absolutely not. But he has the tools to be a great one, especially playing behind a guy like Beverley.

I think Westbrook and James must play almost exclusively as combo forwards (PF/SF), Reaves as an exclusive SF, and Davis as a center. Doing this will allow the four other guards to get minutes in the backcourt:

PG - Nunn - Schroder
SG - Beverley - Walker
C - Davis - Bryant
PF - James - (Westbrook)/Brown
SF - Reaves - Westbrook
