The idea that now is the best time for a rebuild is insane.

Ouch.

Boy they sure did look good against Serbia. Tell me....what's the Lakers record against Joker the last 12-15 games....you know, when it actually matters?

You have your fun boys.....I know it's great watching video-game mode. But when you sense your hand starting to slide down towards your jeans.....take a deep breath, and remember our record against Joker when it matters.

You clearly don't watch any basketball to appreciate the chasm that exists between the coaching & role players on all the other playoff teams vs the Lakers, given the fact that it is a team sport.

For me it's not the issue of talent but my concern about sustainability. Can they do this for 82 games plus another 20+ games or so?

With regards of their inability to beat a team like Denver well, the Nuggets is a much more balanced and better coached team.
Denver didn't get much better until they acquired Gordon and KCP.
Give Bron and AD teammates who can defend and hit shots like KCP,MPJ AND Gordon just like when they had Caruso, KCP,Kuzma in 2020 and get a competent coach like Vogel or maybe MIchael Malone, then maybe they have a chance against good teams.

Well said. Couldn't agree more.

And sustainability is an issue with all the superstars combos across the league too. The question is whether you are prepared cash in the chips when you get lucky with your own health / other teams ill-health or simply match ups.

- Bucks 2021 & Warriors 2022 were the luckiest teams to win in more than a decade because of the injuries to all of their opponents.
- Nuggets also caught Lebron on one leg, basically being unable to get a 30 point game or any kind of reasonable efficiency through 3 rounds till the WCF Game 4, when he was clearly out of gas by the 2nd half.

Celtics 2024 is the most legit championship since we won & if you wanna tell me that any of our role players, including Austin, is even getting a start on their roster, STOP TALKING BASKETBALL AND EMBARASSING YOURSELF!!

Yeah...they know all this. They just got chubbed up watching video-game mode, and are having a bit of fun. Best not to take it too seriously. Our team record of 7th - 11th - 7th - 8th in the West the last 4 years speaks much more to the truth. Reality will come crashing back for these guys come late Oct. I expect alot of "fire JJ" talk once it does.

No.

The context is -
- The only team with 2 All NBA players
- The only All NBA+All Defensive Team player in the league, who is universally recognized as the best defender in the playoffs for 2 straight years
- Terrible coaching hires by the organization since Dr Buss passed
- Lifelong Loser Ownership / Front Office that has recruited the worst role players. Barring Austin & Rui, none will not get ANY MINUTES on a contender. And Rui may be a stretch

Having the best 1-2 duo should be all the incentive you need to go all in with the picks and abandoning the youth. Warriors, a far more competent franchise than the Lakers, tried the two timeline thing and realized they failed and mover on. Lakers find it "just soooo hard" cos Jeanie is a dumbass nepotism product.

I've said this for months - trade the picks and improve the team as much as possible. Period. Empty the cupboard and give LeBron and AD a shot over these next 1-2 years.

Specially considering how lesser teams have demonstrated in the last 3-4 years - how easy it is to amass 6-10 picks by simply tanking for two years.

3-5 picks are being traded for elite role players, not even stars, like Rudy, OG, Siakam, Mikal Bridges.

Jeanie's cronies guarding the two picks like they were freaking dragon eggs is just comedy. I hope she sells the team as a whole or some stake so a professional management can run this place like it's meant to be.

Well.....If you can get that "Guy", or you can get 2 solid (gotta be truly solid) role players who really plug holes in our game, then by all means. I've championed for a rebuild prob more than anyone.....but I've also said this was an acceptable solution too.

But it's gotta be now. Not next year. NOW.

Unless we get something truly spectacular next offseason, then it's too late. Do the math (I say that alot, I admit....but it's true) and be realistic about the "window" we're dealing with folks. If we get a good player next year.....well then the 2025-26 playoffs Lebron will be 42 and AD will be 33. Your asking too much. Unless we got Giannis or something absolutely out of the park, I don't think your getting it done in the playoffs.....in what will essentially be 2 years from now.

If we can't pull the trigger on something that's truly impactful this offseason, then we're wasting our time. Sell what we got while their stock is still high, and move forward.

Second response to this post:

You also have to realize that Lebron won't be here much longer. And I hope you acknowledge that AD is either on the decline at 31, or he's 1 year away. So you have to be clever with your "cleaning the cupboard" ......or your in for another 10-year rebuild. Outside of AD and potentially Lebron...the Lakers have nothing of value. I know that tears at the hearts of some around here, but where's the interest? There's none. No deals. Nobody wants AR...nobody wants DLo.....nobody wants Rui....and despite him being an elite defender...nobody want Vanderbilt. The Lakers have tried. Tried and tried and tried. Nothing. It's been the same old story around here: "give us a few picks or F**k off".....So food for thought on that front.

The Lakers don't have next years pick. So exactly how far into the future are you looking here? And for what? Cause if we're gonna go into the night with a retired Lebron, and an AD at 33-34 (Who hopefully isnt hurt) and half our picks missing for then next 7-8 years......you better hope the guy we sign is LEGIT!!!!!

Or we're in for another post Kobe rebuild. Something I hear alot of people around here are against....although I don't see it.

So yeah....you better get someone that's for real....or else this is gonna be dismal around here till the mid 2030's. So watch what you wish for.....just sayin

I know where this is going, but humor me.. Name some players that fit your criterion of "that guy"

not ok to go to the Celtic forum and talk about how their star didn't get to play vs Serbia and not cool to come to the Lakers forum and start this up. Please do not troll and instigate.
