The Elephant in the Room... (Number 9)

Post#1 » by LakerPhan » Mon Feb 10, 2025 6:28 pm

Haven't seen a lot of talk (anywhere) on Bronny. Sure he gets cheers around the NBA, sure he is young, probably a nice kid, but

None of the pre-season scouting reports rated him very high and I think its a well-known, yet unspoken fact, that he was largely signed to appease LeBron.

Now, I do not wish any ill-will on him and I certainly do hope he develops and has a long successful NBA career, however his play on the Lakers has been woefully lacking (yeah, I'm being nice). I have only watched a couple of minutes of his G-League games, and he looked ok, but I really feel that if the Lakers are serious about winning and putting the best possible team on the floor (even in Garbage time), then Bronny should be returned to the G-League full time (to fully promote his experience).

I have the feeling that when LeBron finally retires, unless Bronny is at or is near NBA ready, he will be released or traded, as it will no longer be a priority to keep LeBron happy..

Thoughts?

I think that's essentially what they are doing. He's playing Dleague games (doing quite well) and gets brought up, and injected into the occasional NBA game.

He's got a decent toolbox of skills. His height will always be his issue. But give him a year or two, and lets see. We already owe him his contract. The draft pick has been used...so why not?? I think there is definitely alot of talent there. He seems to have a good attitude about it. So let's give him his 2-3 years to develop, and if he doesnt.....we move on.

He needs to play more games at the G league level, just so he can get as many reps as possible. He’s not ready for the NBA, understandably so.

I previously thought he didn’t have a chance at the NBA once his dad retires, it looked like they were just doing his dad a favor. But he’s got a ways to go, and his height will make it more difficult.

Either way, he’s still just a 55th overall pick. It’s not like they wasted an early second on him

He should be in the conversation on who should we waive to have a roster space. The choices should be Bronny, Cam, Shake or Markieff but because he is Bron's son he won't be waived. But from basketball standpoint, the other three is better than Bronny right now. No hate, just stating facts.

Bronny is good fit with Luka and Reaves if he can get some confidence in his jump shot.

He needs to study how GP3 plays.
Become a defensive menace and find a way to nok be too much of a negative on the other end of the floor.

The other elephant in the room: why are we winning so much lately I thought we were in the mediocre treadmill. What’s going on?

Lakers are a play-in team, Lebron is washed, Reaves is overrated, Reddick is no better than Ham...our detractors were on fire through the first 15-20 games.

Have you seen the league?? It's the worst I've even seen it....and it's not even close. I think the number of teams we've beat above .500 (I mean above .500......not just by a game or two) can still be counted on 1 hand. But thats almost misleading...cause there are only a handful of teams more than one or two games above .500! Last night, we basically beat up a 4-year old! That Jazz team couldn't beat some college teams. Let's be honest.....Luka's debut was hardly one for the ages. 5 of 14 shooting...1 of 7 from the 3, and yet he sat the entire 4th cause we were up by 30. All fun and games for now.

Our last "good win" against a winning team was the Pacers. They are 4th in the East...just 4-5 games above .500, and we beat them without Lebron, AD/Luka...our center, and anyone associated with that deal. So that points to the level of competition.

But go back and look for signature wins. We beat Grizz twice. Seem to have their number (although our team is totally different now). And we beat the Knicks, and Boston...That was good win. I dunno....anything else?

But we'll see what happens if Luka and Lebron gel well. I still don't think this team beats Denver or OKC in a series. But who the hell knows?! If they do gel....this league is so god-awful this year.

That 2010 Lakers team with Kobe and Pau and Artest prob are a 70-win team that sweeps the post-season. It's embarrassing what the state of the league is right now.

Great team defense. Solid offensive output every night. Coaches deserve big props.
