Lakers Rebounding Dominance

The Lakers have 3 of the top 50 rebounders in the NBA

Bynum is averaging 3.4 more rebounds than the average NBA starting center

LO is averaging 2.5 more rebounds than the average NBA strting PF

Kobe is averaging a league high in rebounds for SG. He is 2.3 higher than the average starting SG

Currently the Lakers bench is averaging 15.4 rebounds per, 3 rebs higher than other NBA benches

The Lakers avg 11.2 possessions than other teams because of the fierce rebounding. Those 11.2 possessions in combination w/ the NBA's 3rd best FG percentage of .474 leads to 11+ points per game.

That is a key reason to the Lakers success. Those rebounds turn into points and the Lakers average margin of victory is less than 11 points.

Sidenote
Fish is about par avging .2 more rebounds and Ariza / Walton are 7th worst in the NBA at the SF position for rebounding

If the Lakers could somehow make a trade for Josh Howard, C Anthony, L Deng or Caron Butler (top rebounding SF's) the Lakers would have the equivalent of a 15 point lead every game.

Its hard to lose w/ a fifteen point lead! Step it up Ariza & Walton!

The key (and best part) is that were doing it while being a top shooting team, so unlike a NY, it not just because were bricking everything.

lamar's average in november (12 games) while coming back from injury and playing sf was 6.8 rpg. in december (14 games) he averaged 10.6 rpg and so far in january (2 games) he's at 14 rpg. lamar and bynum are beasts on the boards.

LO is a rebounding machine. That's one staple of his game that is never inconsistent.

Funny that rebounding was something we used to lose games to in previous seasons and suddenly we have the most dominant rebounding front court in the league and when Kobe is averaging close to 7 boards a game, it gets much easier.

LO and Bynum are beasts on the boards, having Kobe also helps a lot as he's also a beast on the boards.

this shows nothing... how many offensive rebounds are we giving up? How many are we getting... having more rebounds just means more shots are being fired up and missed...

While our offensive rebounding is a relative weakness, I do believe were are near the top of the league not only in rebounding but rebounding margin. Bynum will be key hear as he learns better positioning/technique with rebounding.
