I give credit to the FO for what they have accomplished.
For one, they still have Kobe and chances of losing him are much less than a few weeks ago.
The FO has also drafted very well with Farmar, Critt, and Turiaf.
Also the recent trades have been amazing.
They have made some amazing moves.
Let's give credit where credit is due.
Now it's up to Phil and the players to make this thing work if not this year, but certainly next year.
Cudos to the FO and Mitch.

I couldn't agree with miles more.

I'm not sure everyone is getting what miles said. It seems as though the replies to this post are coming in weighted. It seems as though some are bringing in his past posts as reasons to combat his opinion.

If you want to be really honest. You have to agree with miles. There has been nothing genius about the trade. Unless there has been a lot more behind the scenes that we are unaware of. He had one little bit saying how kobe probably helped light a fire under bynum and it seems like that is about the only thing people are hearing.

I think I read that the deal fell apart the night before because Mitch was trying to send Radmonovic over in the trade. The grizz wanted cap space, and we all know radmonovic is not a cap saver. That sounds far from genius to me.

The one thing a lot of people forget to mention (some bring it up often) but the majority do forget...kwame was primarily a phil jackson thing. When phil agreed to come back he wanted to have "some control" over the signings. He wanted the lakers to bring in a power forward. The Lakers agreed. Kwame was high on phils list. He still is actually. For whatever reason phil really likes the guy. Kwame eventually moved over to center because of injury. It was not mitches master plan to use his cap space. We actually were on a free agent hunt for a while. All the major future free agents signed early extensions with their teams. Things were not falling in our favor and mitch rushed a bit and overpaid for vlad and everyone hated mitch. Out of no where bynum goes down the Lakers struggle a bit and mitch has to make a move. It just so happens one of the best players we could ask for is available because his team is doing the same plan the lakers were on just two years ago. Cap space for free agents. And mitch almost blew it by trying to unload vlad.

Don't get me wrong now. I think mitch has done an okay job...but really the only thing I'm really high on him for is the recent draft picks and the mo evens swap then the mo and cook swap for ariza deals. Those were good solid moves. Done at the right time.

Often time in life the best move is no move. He can be credited for that with bynum for kidd.

So overall good job mitch...but genius he is not.

Let's thank him for keeping things together and showing signs of life...but nothing more. This pau deal is being in the right place at the right time at the right price. As we obviously see other teams offered "more" in terms of talent. Just so happened talent was not what the grizz wanted. That has nothing to do with our front office and mitch.

Bottom line...I agree with you miles...

Let's not hate mitch and lets not fall at his feet. Let's just be thankful for the circumstances that have come about.

I think one thing has been highly overlooked. The lakers success. Stay with me on this one...

If we had struggled...and we know how bad things looked coming into the season...but if we had struggled this deal would not have happened and a couple things would have happened. Kobe would be on his way out...maybe to the bulls...or a bynum/odom/ anybody else would be on their way out. I hear credit to mitch for sticking with bynum and being patient but it's easy when you are winning...but he said it himself in his interview the ohter day. "We looked at this deal and others earlier but we were playing so well together we hate to break that kind of team chemistry up."

One of the only reason moves did not go down...is because the lakers were winning games.

Disagree? Why did mitch himself say he took this trade? It's almost like he has blinders on...I was a little surprised after hearing his remarks about the trade. I was stunned really.
