I disagree, Kobe's so competitive he wants to win any challenge. Like the Skills Competition last year, sure he didn't win but he went hard. But your right, if the finger's not healthy (which it probably won't be) he should sit this one out.

Doesn't Kobe own the record for the most 3's in a game with 12?

Don't eva, eva, eva, eva (in the voice of Chris Tucker from Friday) underestimate Kobe.

If Kobe wants to play on Sunday, he doesn't have a choice. Players selected to the All Star game are obligated to participate on Saturday should the league want them to.

And if Kobe wants to rest the All Star game, he'll likely be ineligible to play for us for a while. When Duncan suggested he sit out a couple years ago because of minor injuries, Stern stated he would be on the inactive roster for a minimum of 5 games after the break.

haha rip's quote should've read "Kobe can't be me because he has a dislocated finger".

But seriously I think this one could go either way. Rip might not be too farfetched with that statement; Kobe is really streaky behind the arc. If Kobe's cold that day he could lose in the first round, but if he's hot he's going to do something legendary. But then again we always see a tired Kobe shooting 3's. Fact is Kobe goes to the rack and handles the ball a lot more than Rip does.

I still favor Kobe in this but, you have to admit if you have ever watched the Pistons RIP is none stop motion when he is on the court!

So the amount of time with the ball and going to the rack for Kobe is a moot point for me personally.

^There's a huge difference between running marathons around the floor and coming off multiple picks compared to grinding it out and going to the rack. Trying to get to the rack with contact is more physically draining. So it really isn't a moot point.

Kobe won't be in the 3-point shootout, so Rip is right in that he doesn't have to worry about beating him.
