Bryant Makes a Difference Beyond the Court

Kobe Bryant was at the Amway Arena in Orlando ready to make his entrance. Waiting patiently in the tunnel, he listened for his introduction. After hearing his name echo throughout the arena, he strutted onto the court and immediately the place went crazy. Nearly everyone got out of their seat and showed their support for the Los Angeles Lakers

Thanks. :)

By the way, I've gotten some interesting emails, mainly about that last line. People like to believe that Kobe was actually convicted of raping a girl despite evidence suggesting otherwise and the case being settled. He made the mistake of cheating on his wife but people make mistakes (especially when they're being faced with temptation on a daily basis). That's all he did wrong as far as I'm concerned.

^You're absolutely right. I noticed it right after it was put onto the front page and it's in the process of being fixed. I don't know what I was thinking, had a brain fart I guess. Thanks for the compliment though! :)

That was a terrific read, thanks. I hope it doesn't go unnoticed, like these kinds of write-ups about Kobe usually are.

Media doesn't tend to pick up on these positive articles. Just not as newsworthy as trainwrecks.

Kobe is thoughtful with his charity work. He has a philosophy about it - that is why it has more impact.

Kobe's charitable side is nice. However, I don't find his Vivo Foundation very effective. Sure, sending 8 kids internationally to help share, explore and understand others' cultures means a lot; but it doesn't seem to reach out to very many. It just seems like a group of 8 kids going on what seems to be a paid vacation of sorts and nothing more.

About the Vivo Foundation:
Projects include Vivo Del Mondo, an international travel experience that offers deserving high school and college students a unique and expanded context to think, question and formulate their own beliefs about the world and discover and develop their life passions.

Vivo also supports educational initiatives in Los Angeles and Philadelphia and programs that assist the families of men and women serving in our armed forces.
