He was booed becuase at first he did not want to come when traded to Utah The GM had to fly down to Goldenstate to talk him into it. Then his daughter gets sick, (glad to hear she is getting better) Then he asked out of his contract because going from Utah to New York for treatment was too hard on his family. (most real jazz fans were happy he was going) Then even though Utah was too far, he signed with LA even farther and continued to go to NY for treatment. HMMM

Ummm, Fisher's doctors in NY gave him a list of city's that was suited to take care of Tatum. Utah wasn't on the list but LA was.

People like you apparently have zero clue what it is like dealing with disease and disability. The amount of doctors and specialists you see is greater than one.

Derek's family doesn't fly to New York that much now because Tatum's doctors in the LA area can keep a check on her. That couldn't happen in Utah. However, if something bad would happen she would be taken back to New York to the doctor the performed her surgery.

Fisher should be our last concern. The guys a vet, proven championship player. This thread should be on Luke Walton and his inability to contribute.

As for the layups, I don't expect him to miss as much going closer to the playoffs.

Why overreact when the guy is still shooting 46% from the field and 41% from 3, averaging more than 12 PPG with Gasol with Kobe with Bynum and the bench.

Exactly. I don't understand why Jazz fans won't listen to that. He has doctors here checking on his daughter. Of course the people in NY still wants to keep a follow up, but all the care is mainly done in L.A. The Jazz fans reasoning makes it sound like his daughter is still in NY all the time which is not true. Like you said, the doctors in NY gave him a list and L.A. was one of them.

my understanding is that Fishers family support system (his parents, his wifes parents and family) and the medical facility where his daughter recives regular care and treatments (daily then weekly appoiments, emergencies, a hospital with the proper equipment and staff) are in LA and the specialist that performed the surgury lives in NY and he flies his daughter to NY for special evaluations only. why is that so hard to understand?

I like to think that Fisher loved L.A. and it was a secret ploy to get back here, but that's a bit distasteful considering his daughter's condition. And yes, I personally know some people who worked at the hospital where Tatum was treated. It's basically the best and most cutting edge techniques in opthalmology.

Back on topic, of course Fisher is a chucker. That's who he is. Thing is, he's shooting a career high. These kinds of criticisms usually come when he's struggling, and he's been inconsistent for this road trip.

But when he's on, it's all good, right?

I agree to some point, I think Fisher has been a little too aggressive. He converts open shots a lot more often than his pull up J's. Or his prayers going towards the basket. Can it be more obvious that's he's just hoping to get a whistle by initiating body contact? Lol.

But you gotta love Fish, he's got heart and hustle, and to many, that more than makes up for his limitations. I'm not one of them, because I abhor the word "intangibles." I've had enough of Vlade Divac, Aaron Mckie, etc. to not give a rat's ass about off the court leadership and intangibles. Bring your game, that's all that matters to me.

And that's why I'm pleasantly surprised by Fisher, because he has some tangible positives. A few bad shots aside, he's still shooting career highs, among the very best shooters in the league. Defensively, he will get beat, but he draws a charge every game. He's not perfect, but more often than not, he's a good fit and contributor. He also cares about winning and the game, which can't be underestimated on our young team. Wait, isn't that the intangibles?

Sasha is the real chucker on the team. He'll play 15 minutes and manage to get up 12 shots. The Laker to chuck like that was Slava.

Must I remind everyone who he re-placed??? SMUSH PARKER? We should be grateful that we got him and got rid of that bum. We could do far worse than Derek Fisher at that position. And he's shooting the best this year than before. You guys fault lamar for being passive but fault fisher for being aggressive? I like him being aggressive. You need other players to be aggressive playing along kobe. Or else Kobe will go into 30-40 shot attempt kobe. And we don't want that happening.

DFish is one the biggest reason this season is going so positively so far.
Yes, he's trigger happy sometimes, but he usually makes his shots, besides its nice finally have few guy who are not afraid to shoot.
He is a good option to have on the outside when the defense collapses on Mamba/Bynum/Gasol.

His defence is above average, and his presence on the court is stabilizing .

This sums it up for me.

No matter how many shots he forces, or how many layups he misses, or how many times he gets torched by the opposing PG, he's still an infinitely better option than arguably the biggest turd to wear a Laker jersey since I started following the team two decades ago.

No matter what happens -- a tough loss, Bynum going down, the dilemma with Kobe's finger -- I just think of William Parker rotting down in Miami, and a huge smile crosses my face. To go from a Hall of Fame douche bag like that to a pro's pro like Fish has been a godsend.
