Classic Jeff Van Gundy

Post#1 » by crackjack » Sun Feb 24, 2008 8:31 pm

Jeff Van Gundy just took a shot on national TV at everyone who blindly assumes that the Lakers are running a full version of the triangle offense.

You see, so many sports fans are accustomed to hearing that the Lakers run a triangle offense. They don't even bother paying attention to the style of offense that the team is running on the floor. They just assume that it's a triangle offense.

One of the other commentators said something about the Lakers running a triangle. He then unintentionally contradicted himself by saying that Bryant dominates the ball.

Those of us that truly understand the triangle offense knows that no player dominates the ball.

Van Gundy called him out on that afterward. That was classic.

I kinda agree with that, I know they try to run it as much as possible, but in the B.G. era (before Gasol) Kobe would just take over and dominate, kinda putting the triangle to the side, but now in the A.G. era, the triangle is a lot more visible.

They watered down the triangle offense well before Gasol, man.

i think most casual fans link jackson teams with the triangle, but don't really know what it is, so they just assume they're running it

Mavericks fans were doing the same thing back during the 90s as well.

When Cleamons was coaching in Dallas, people assumed that it was the triangle offense.

When you have a great play maker like Kidd and two great wing scorers like Jackson and Mashburn, it's not a triangle offense.
