Come on people, take off your homer glasses. Do you really think Lamar Odom = #1 pick (even #4 pick in worst case)???

No, we dont. But we were just talking based on the story that was out about Riley today.

Sometimes conversations end where there is no deal. Sorry our conversations and homer glasses bother you so much.

I think Toronto would love trade Odom for Bargnani right now and he was the future Dirk!

I agree with other posters that the Lakers and Heat don't have a straight deal to do, another team would have to be involved.

I think the Heat would be crazy to trade the pick. They need a good young player to build around, Marion may not sign a long term deal and I believe Wade can get out fairly shortly, too. Beasley, Rose, Mayo, or Gordon would be too good to pass up for the Heat.

Plus, the Heat will make the best choice for the future, not next year's bench coach, which likely won't be Riley. So, if Riley is not coaching, I do not think he will be as compelled to try to do a quick makeover that only gets them back to respectability. It's going to be a big picture decision.

PG - Derek Fisher/Jordan Farmar/Sasha Vujacic
SG - Kobe Bryant/Ricky Davis/Coby Karl
SF - Michael Beasley/Trevor Ariza/Luke Walton
PF - Pau Gasol/Ronny Turiaf/Vladimir Radmanovic
C - Andrew Bynum/Mark Blount/DJ Mbenga

WHOA I just busted a nut when I scrolled down and saw that lineup.

I wouldn't trade Odom for the 3rd pick. We got enough young players. Let's add to our team, not wait two more years.

I think we are good as it is. maybe a couple more role players if we can add them. Jose calderon would be a good pickup, even if we have the two headed beast of D-fish and Farmar. But both cannot handle the quick guards. Calderon isnt any better in that aspect but he is a little more capable than D-fish at this time of his career. PLus he is pretty consistent. With TJ Ford going down he stepped up big. sorry that was off topic. But RIley will work his magic. he puts it out there to see if there are some established young talent on young teams that he can bring to his young nucleus. Wade hasnt been himself and marion is well all over. I think marion holds his demand and stays with the heat. If no one throws anything worth of starter material around those two, he picks up the pick and gets the best position player for his team. I doubt he picks up gordon with wade at the 2. If riles is going to trade that pick, i think he wants brand.

Yeah, you gotta love the unreal hype"

"Radmanovic's Nike Hoop Summit coach, Marin Sedlacek...is probably the only person on the planet to have coached Nowitzki, Radmanovic and the other hot European prospect Pau Gasol. Sedlacek told sportsTALK that Radmonovic is the best of the three at this stage. "He's more ready for the NBA than Nowitzki or Gasol. He's stronger than Dirk was when he entered the NBA. He can be just as special."

In last year's draft, I'd take Odom over anybody not named Oden, Durant, or Horford. And I'd think most GM's would too, if money was no object.

That's the thing, most teams that have those high picks are looking to rebuild, jettison contracts, start over. I think Miami is a rare case. They've got 2 all-stars but they're tanking the season.

Again, there's a reason why Riley might be shopping the pick. He doesn't want to start over, he wants to win now. Beasley doesn't play defense and he's got attitude problems. The other top prospects are combo guards, like Wade. Draftexpress has Lopez as a top 5 pick. A backup big man as a top 5 pick? Consequently, I can see Riley preferring Odom over his choices.

He loves Odom, he has a special relationship with him. Remember, Pat Riley was the guy who gave a huge contract to him despite Odom coming off injury-plagued seasons plus the marijuana suspensions. And Odom credits Pat Riley for saving him and his career.

The Heat played some exciting and successful basketball with Wade, Butler, and Odom. Again, they almost beat the Pacers in the 2nd round of the playoffs, but they were all too inexperienced and not developed enough.

A healthy Wade, ironman Marion, and seasoned Odom would be superior to that previous squad. That in of itself would be more enticing than the Beasley gamble, a tweener forward who doesn't play defense and seemingly has attitude problems.
