I loved the addition of Ariza for you guys, been a supporter of his since his Knicks days... the kind of wing that was needed on the team.

Chubby Chaser wrote:Look at Amare. Before he got injured he had no shot. All he was known for was dunking, alley-oops and put backs. During his year off for recovery he worked on his shot. Now he has a great mid range game, free throw percentage, and even has a three point shot now.

Actually Amare already had a solid, consistent jumpshot in 04-05 from the field and from the stripe... he just continued to work on his shot to get it better, and expand in additional ways to shoot it after the 05 season.

So, he wasn't all dunks, lay-ups, put-backs before 06-07. That's what he did best and stood out naturally, then, but his shot was far from insignificant. 2005 Playoffs are a terrific example of this.

Amare doesn't have even a semi-reliable 3PT shot, and doesn't shoot them on any regular basis.

He should play in the playoffs that's when he himself said he will return. Plus Kupchak also blamed a string of poor defensive efforts on attrition, pointing out that the Lakers had been without three 7-footers and injured forward Trevor Ariza, who he said was the team's best defensive player... This means Ariza will be signed again because the man that will sign hin is saying Ariza is the best defensive player on the Lakers right???? So he will remain a Laker and there's always next year..lol man at least they will play at the beginning!!! Oh here's a link http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketbal ... 2217.story read down there is Ariza story there!

True ariza isnt a shooter and is nowhere close to the machine, but his defense is much more valuable then we take into account. As people have mentioned he has shut down guards like AI. I do remember that game and wow what a difference he makes for the fast break points. I do hope we resign him. His shot was actually starting to fall for him the last couple games before his injury but his game has always been flying around near the hoop for putbacks or quick slashes to the basket. When he returns for us in the playoffs i hope we can get him back into the mix and have him running with the bench mob. Farmar loves to change the pace, which makes things better for Ariza.
