Lakers control the Tiebreakers by winning the next H2Hs

Post#1 » by daddyfivestar » Wed Apr 2, 2008 2:33 pm

All this downplaying the Lakers tiebreaker situation - if they win the Head to Heads against SA and NO, they are in good shape for the #1 slot.

Play even with them the rest of the way, pick up a 1/2 on NO, and beat them each in Staples (uh oh) on Apr 11 & 13. Plus, Phx has a tough SA, Hou trip upcoming so they should be a game or two back in the end.

THEY WILL HAVE THE BEST CONF RECORD compared to all.

The home stretch is on!!

I think we'll sweep it all from here. These last days of rest were probably much needed. Time to turn on the focus, rev the jets, and bring everyone injured back onboard.

We'll have to sweep if we want to win the conference. The Hornets are on a tear and unless we win our remaining games I don't see us catching them. They did much better than I expected on their road trip, so we have to hope that they'll lose a home game (in addition to us beating them on our floor) to break even by seasons end.

The losses to Charlotte and Memphis really killed our chances of running away with the #1 seed in the West, so now we have to make up for it by going undefeated from here on out. With Gasol, I believe we can, but he needs to be at 100% by the time we face NO/SA.

Yup, bring back Bynum and Pau and switch to overdrive. Time to get some momentum and sweep the rest of the season!

I would much rather stay at 3. I am much more scared of the possibility of playing Dallas, Denver, or GS than I am Houston. I think the goal should be just to stay in front of Phoenix to secure the 3/4 seed. This is how I see it and hope the west breaks down...

1-SA
2-NO
3-LAL
4-Utah
5-PHX
6-HOU
7-DEN
8-DAL

First Round
SA vs DAL
Utah vs PHX
NO vs DEN
LALvs HOU

Conf. Semi-Finals
SA vs PHX
NO vs LAL

Conf. Finals
SA vs LAL

What?? nah man, we have no fear and much less respect whatsoever for Dallas, we always kill em when we play. I do fear San Antonio, Phoenix (who is playing much better right now) and the Hornets, but I doubt we play them in the early rounds.

I don't know about you guys but I don't want to be 1st I want to be whatever seed plays the Rockets. That is the safe bet clearly because we would be the only team in the West who plays an easy team.

i completely agree with staying at 3rd and playing the rockets....as long as we avoid the suns in the 1st round, we should be set, no way will we play the spurs...
id rather be a 3rd seed entering the 2nd round rather than a 1st seed exiting the 1st round.
kobe's mvp chances might get hurt, but i highly doubt it.

Agreed. Too many variables and close calls to be jockeying for position. Just win out and see what happens.
